Situated at the heart of the tranquil village of Obertraun set on the eastern shores of the beautiful Hallstatter See Lake in the Inner Salzkammergut region of Austria. It is ideally situated for exploring Hallstatt the UNESCO cultural and natural World Heritage village. Boasting a unique blend of 7000 year old history and stunning natural beauty. The pristine nature of the lakes, mountains and woods in the shadow of the Dachstein provides a real paradise for walkers and bikers alike. During the Winter the area takes on a whole new look, the snow covered mountains provide excellent skiing opportunities at the Dachstein West Ski region, with 140km of intermediate runs or the Freeride arena of the Krippenstein. 
 
The Obertrauner Hof offers 2 star accommodation in 12 spacious and comfortably furnished en-suite bedrooms many of which have balconies opening out to breath-taking panoramic views of the Dachstein Massif.  
 
Comfortably furnished lounge areas along with the peaceful garden provide guests with a restful spaces in which to reflect on the day.

    possible and would include; Heilbronner Kreuz, Gjaidalm, Simony, Sarstein.

    We had a wonderful time despite the initial gloominess and the atmosphere added to the beauty of the mountains on the first night. We were also really pleased with our room. We managed to visit the ice cave, Krippenstein and the five fingers as well as Hallstatt. On the way home we also took time out to visit the old town in Salzburg.
    I would definitely recommend the Gasthof as a great place to return to after a day outdoors. - Jemma Payne June 09
