Vacation Rental Description
This house is very peaceful and remote yet it has the wonderful feature of being within walking distance to the ecotourist destination Chachagua Rainforest Hotel. This unique setting offers total privacy with all the comforts of a first class lodge. The conveniences offered by the hotel include: English-speaking staff on property at all times, cell phones in case of emergencies, night watchman, laundry, restaurant serving delicious local Costa Rican cuisine, fully stocked bar, beautiful outdoor swimming pool, massage therapists, orchid garden, live butterfly house, access to rainforest hiking trails, rental horses and tours. We consider this to be the best of both worlds: the security and convenience of a hotel yet the quiet remoteness of a private home. The house has 2 bedrooms. The master bedroom has a nice queen size bed and its own porch with superb views. The guest bedroom has two beds, one double and one twin.
There is 1 bathroom with beautiful private shower that overlooks rainforest. Colorful hand painted murals cover three of the walls within the house and illustrate forest scenes (done by a talented local artist). There is a great kitchen with all the tools to cook a healthy meal. There is also a family room that opens up to the best porch in the world. The house is an awesome place to relax. Guests can spend countless days just sitting in the hammocks, eating fresh fruit and watching the toucans, parrots, hummingbirds and countless birds that visit the garden at the house. Not only is the house a great place to chill out, but it is in an ideal location to use as a home base when you go on adventures.
Things to do in close by La Fortuna are: Watch lava flow from the crater of Volcano Arenal (one of the most picturesque volcanoes), visit a 100ft waterfall (Catarata La Fortuna), bathe in natural hot springs, fish and windsurf on Lake Arenal, whitewater raft, explore the Volcano Arenal National Park, take a wildlife/bird tour to Cano Negro, go on a caving tour, dine at many restaurants, dance at the local discothèque (Volcan Look), get cool souvenirs, get money from an ATM, or use the internet. Also, you are less then a 4 hour drive to a variety of nice beaches on the Pacific coasts as well as the enchanting cloud forests of Monte Verde. The Caribbean coast is only about 5 hours away. Whatever your questions might be about the house, general area, or Costa Rica, I would love to answer them. I lived in this friendly and peaceful community for a year when I first went to Costa Rica in 1998 to be an English Teacher.

The book "1,000 Places to See Before you Die," by Paticia Schultz, lists only three places in Costa Rica. Chachagua Rainforest Hotel is one of them. See below for details
Chachugua RainForest Hotel, La Fortuna, San Carlos. “This beautiful situated cattle ranch is one of Costa Rica’s most favored rain forest getaways. Located in the Tilaran Mountain range, one of the most diverse areas in this verdant country, the Chachagua’s 50-acre spread nestles up against the Children’s International Rain Forest, which in turn joins the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve: Potential for bird and wildlife viewing here is tremendous. Arenal Volcano and Lake are an easy four-wheel drive away; there is spelunking, white-water rafting, and rappelling for those who aspire to do it all, and the Tabacon Hot Springs for those who don’t.”
