Vacation Rental Description
have a very charming small resort located in southern Belize. We tend to get a lot of tourist traffic from the U.S.A., England, and Canada. We have a total of 8 cabanas - 2 that are smaller with thatched roof and 6 a bit larger with an upstairs for sleeping and a kitchenette. The prices are the same.
This is an ideal location for: vacation, adventure travel, weddings, honeymoons, and a great beach vacation.
We have our own restaurant, bar and gift shop. We prepare local food - that tends to be fresh every day. The restaurant is open air and overlooks the ocean. Great Views! Meet Leo the Manager and Rueben the bar tender. We will be your friends after your visit to the Green Parrot.
There is plenty to do here. Most people fly down from Belize City on a Tropic Air plane. Flight lasts about 20 minutes. We are located in southern Belize on the Placencia peninsula. We are able to do both water and land based tours: snorkel, fishing, diving, trips to villages, trips to Mayan ruins. All very tropical. Pack lite - we are a very laid back place.
Being on the beach we do not have ac or tv. This place is for relaxing - and not worrying about the stock market going to pot. I doubt your blackberrie will work here. We do have an internet connection.
If you like ac, tv, video game rooms, loud bar music all night, and lots of loud little kids jumping in the pool all day and night - then this is not the place for you. There are plenty of places north and south of us that cater to this type of traveler. This is a traditional Belize resort hotel - and they are getting fewer all the time. We are small, clean, quiet and friendly. Our maids will clean your room daily, we will talk to you about tours. Our staff are all Belizean - they know the people and the country.
You can read a book from our library. Go on a tour all day. Come back home and have a grand meal in the Green Parrot Restaurant. Have a couple of drinks at the bar. Meet another traveler from a foreign land and have a chat. Sun goes down at 6:30pm. Get to bed early and listen to the waves hit the beach - we have the best beach in Belize -bar none! Sun rise at 6am. Get up for the hot coffee and breakfast in the restaurant.
We are getting close to the beginning of the 2010-11 tourist season. If you plan to book a cabana from December to March - please let us know early - as our rooms will fill up fast after the Labor Day weekend. Also, if you plan to go fishing - we can book this tour (and all others) in advance, as they fill up quite fast. We know this, since we have been in business here for going on 11 years.
You will be glad to have you experience the charm of our resort. When it is time to leave - we hope that you will take nothing but good memories away with you.

Most of our activities are for those that want to explore Belize. Diving is popular as is snorkeling. Great fishing along the mangrove swamps. Take a kayak out for a trip along our coast. Dont forget the books in the library - we try to stock it with new stuff. Since we are on a peninsula - you get the advantage of both land and water based tours. And now (September 2010) the road is paved! My gosh is that nice. Good buy pot holes and dust.
Travel Options
- Nearest Airport : Belize International at 125 miles distance;
- Nearest Train Station : Placencia Airstrip at 4 miles distance
- Travel Info: Most people fly to Belize City - the only international airport in Belize.
Then they take a small plane down to Placencia (we can book that) we pick you up at the airport and bring you to the resort.
Effective September 2010 - the road on Peninsula is now paved. This has not been done since the Book of Genesis. So if you drive it will take you about 2.5 hours from Belize City. Do not drive at night after 6. There are few service stations and the roads are poorly lit.
