Vacation Rental Description
Just bring your tooth brush and computer to work from a warm, sunny home this winter. Of course, with a view like this, you may not do as much work as liming by the pool. From the moment you enter Magen's Fancy and gaze in awe at the vista before you, the back of your mind will have a tiny tickle that says. "I never want to leave this little peace of Paradise!"
Lounging by the pool you can watch the migrating whales, yachts sailing on azure blue waters, and all varieties of watersports on Magens Bay. By night you can see the lights of Peterborg reflected on the bay, and thousands of stars sparkle across the endless sky. On a lucky night you will witness the great full moon rising above the eastern hills! Wake up at peace each morning to the gentle lapping of waves on the shore below, and the green parrots chirping in the new day! You can BBQ and dine alfresco day or night on the expansive deck.
Magen's Fancy's architcetural design reflects a typical West Indian theme, with colorful, but functional, wooden shutters. and a "hurricane proof"* hip roof. Upon entering the "Greatroom," an essential element in a Caribberan home, you cannot miss the high pickled ceiling and large overhead fan allowing for maximum air circulation. The fully equipped kitchen includes a propane stove** refrigerator/freezer with an ice-maker, dishwasher, and all essential small appliances. The dining area seats 6 and has 2 extra stools for larger parties, and includes a variety of linens. A casual living area centers around a 40'flat screen TV, that some guests think should be banished from use, in favor of the incredible outdoor ambiance.
The large master suite has a majesttic 4 poster king size bed, bathroom en-suite and walk-in closet. The Victorian Room has a quaint queen size bed and the office/bedroom has 2 twins that can be combined into a king. These two rooms share a bathroom in the hall. All rooms have overhead fans eliminating the need for air conditioning on the cool Northside.
Magen's Fancy is one of the few villas on St. Thomas that is all on one floor, with a flat driveway and only one small step up, making it easily accessable for for guests with disabilities. (Interior bedroom and bathroom doors are not wheelchair accessable.)
While the villa is designed as a 3 bedroom, 2 bath, there is a studio suite downstairs beside the pool. It has a private entrance, patio, king size bed, wet bar, sitting area, bathroom en-suite, walk-in closet, and washer & dryer. This can be rented at an additional cost.
* Nobody can guarantee hurricane proof, but the hip roof, common in parts of Europe, has more weight downward, no overhang to catch the wind, and saves on insurance.
** We have frequent power outages, and the origional style, open burner gas stove requires no electricty, even to start. In times gone by, the power went out about 10:00 am every Thanksgiving as people put their turkeys in the oven at the same time.
