Vacation Rental Description
Welcome to Tranquility, where the living is easy, the views are lovely and nature abounds. This charming and romantic little villa is perfect for a couple or a small family. Tranquility is nestled in the trees on a hillside above Fish Bay on the one side and the luxuriously secluded Reef Bay on the other. Fish Bay is a quiet residential area on the south shore with a mix of residences and vacation villas - only 10 minutes from Cruz Bay – it is convenient for trips to the North Shore or dinner in town. Cruz Bay boasts award-winning restaurants and unique artist-designer owned and operated shops at Mongoose Junction and “around town.” It is a fun place to be when you feel like dining out, shopping, socializing. While the house is surrounded by big shade trees to the back and sides, offering complete privacy - the front view of the Bay affords a clear vista of the water and a full panorama of the incredible night sky. You will fall asleep to the gentle sounds of the virgin forest and wake to the soft sounds of birds singing.
The National Parks' forests and beaches are close by. Tranquility is a very private and unique little villa with high ceilings and 1,000 + sq. ft of living space, which includes wrap around decks for sunning, sunset viewing and stargazing. Accommodations include a full kitchen, lovely dining area, cozy den, bedroom suite and a large bathroom, all of which are new and freshly furnished. It is a wonderfully sexy, breezy, easy kind of place to unwind and relax, an oasis of natural beauty year round – where care and sensitivity to the environment have made Tranquility a special retreat for the eye and soul. Its’ interior reflects the best of Caribbean simplicity in taste and design including all the amenities and conveniences desirable for a carefree, memorable island experience.
Recently equipped with optional air conditioning in the large master suite it is still possible to enjoy the natural cooling provided by the canopy of native shade trees and the glorious trade winds wafting through the open and spacious little home. Tranquility is eco friendly; solar panels heat the water and a short nature walk along a garden path carries you through an herb garden to the large (15 x 30') pool. Guests are welcome to pick fresh basil and other herbs for their salads and will enjoy having the pool all to themselves.
Honeymoon couples have especially enjoyed the tropical appeal of Tranquility with its’ special blend of nature and romance, spectacular sunsets and a panoramic view of the night sky in a quiet setting amongst the trees. The villa can also accommodate a small family - the futon in the den opens to a full size double bed with an overhead ceiling fan to cool the room, which opens onto the front verandah with a view of the bay. There is also a twin size daybed in the master suite.
Tranquility’s builder was a fine craftsman, which is reflected in the beautiful floors inlaid from a gorgeous selection of South American hardwoods and other distinctive touches of a true artisan. The owner, a local artist of international renown whose artwork enhances the easy charm and comfort of this well-appointed villa has decorated Tranquility. All furnishings, fixtures and linens are new and fresh. The artist's husband has landscaped many of the finest properties on the island including nearby Guavaberry Farms, a veritable Garden of Eden, which blends ecology with pure native and exotic beauty.
Short walks will take you down a path to the breathtaking Reef Bay within the National Park and to Cocoloba Beach and other nature trails. Reef Bay has a luxurious, long beach and is a shell seeker’s dream. Off the beaten path and with no roads directly to the beach, it is possible to have the famous National Park beach all to your self!

Tranquility is perched on a shady knoll overlooking Fish Bay - very private and quiet. Fish Bay is a residential community with a mix of private homes and vacation villas with lots of nice views of several bays on the South shore of St. John. The roads are all paved from Cruz Bay to Tranquility and offer easy terrain for walking or hiking. Tranquility is a 3 minute walk to the trail that leads to Reef Bay, which is a luxuriously long and private beach accessible only by foot. Fish Bay is 10 minutes from Cruz Bay, the island’s main hub where the ferry boats and car barges come and go and the best restaurants and shops are located.

“What a fabulous belated honeymoon! We were married in October but wanted to wait for an amazing two-week honeymoon and were definitely not disappointed. Tranquilite is a beautiful villa with unique and creative artwork that makes it feel very homey! We very much enjoyed coming “home” after a long day at the beach and sitting out on the deck with a cocktail and enjoying the sunsets! It was also great to have cook-outs and breakfasts at home! St. John, itself, is a treasure and truly a paradise!
