You can learn a lot more about our cottage on our home website, where we created a room by room tour, link to maps of St. John, a rentor comments guestbook, a photo gallery of pix taken by other renters, and an availability calendar.Tradewinds Cottage is a two-bedroom, two-bath cottage (can be rented as a one-bedroom also) perched by itself high above John’s Folly Bay in the quiet southeastern corner of St. John, US Virgin Islands. Perfect for one couple, or two couples, family with teenagers, etc. Fall asleep to the sound of waves on the beach below!
This charming wood cottage features light, airy rooms with stunning ocean views throughout. The deck commands a panoramic view of the Virgin Islands chain, and the southeastern exposure offers breathtaking sunrises. Steady tradewinds keep the house cool even on hot days, and ensure bug-free evenings.
Far away from the crowds and noise of Cruz Bay, this quiet part of the Island features secluded beaches and scenic tropical views around every corner. Concordia is the dry side of the Island, surrounded by national park. The area boasts great restaurants and bars, and is a short drive from local markets and shops in the village of Coral Bay. It’s a one minute drive from the cottage to the hot, sunny, uncrowded Salt Pond Beach; and a 15-20 minute drive to the spectacular but busier North Shore Beaches. Unlike most houses on St. John, our road is a flat, easy, few hundred feet from the main road to our cottage.
The cottage can be rented as either a one-bedroom, where you'll have the house to yourselves, all on one level. Or, the whole house can be rented, two levels, one bedroom on each level. Upstairs is a large, light-filled living room/eating area/kitchen, one bedroom, and one bathroom. There is a fold-out sleep futon sofa if needed in the living room. Go down the outside stairway to a beautiful private downstairs bedroom with sitting area, sliders to a private balcony, and bathroom with ocean views and handmade seashell tiles in the shower. Set-up designed for maximum privacy between two couples, or teenagers who want to sleep in! Our cottage is NOT good for those with small children, as the bedrooms are purposefully very far away from each other, on different levels, going outside to access between the two floors.
"Tradewinds" inside is a wooden cottage-style house, decorated simply but eclectically in original art and crafts against white walls and natural wood. Sorry, no pets, no smoking.
Tradewinds Cottage is VERY popular — we are booked up 100% almost every year, and people book usually 6-9 months in advance — we have lots of repeat renters! Our rental period is always starting Saturdays 3 PM and ending on Saturdays 10 AM.

Prices above listed for one bedroom (two people). For both bedrooms (4 people) add another $400. $225 extra for holiday weeks. 1/2 of rental cost as deposit to secure rental week, balance and $300 security deposit due 60 days before rental begins. Check, money order, cash. Cancellation policy: In the event that tenants cancel this agreement, money collected will be retained. If the owner is able to re-rent the cottage for that time period, the retained amount will be returned to the tenants, less a 15% cancellation fee. Travel Insurance is recommended for airline and accommodation cancellation expenses.
