Main Description
Set on 2.5 acres of private Jamaican hillside overlooking Ocho Rios, Barbary provides you with the seclusion of a private estate within minutes drive of the sights and attractions of Ocho Rios and Jamaica’s north shore. Villa Barbary sits at the very top of the hill overlooking Ocho Rios and St. Ann's Bay - to the north you find the turquoise Caribbean Sea...to the east and west the property is fully tree'd...but not so much that you can't look east along the coast for some distance.

The Villa was designed around an indoor open atrium and has been decorated with authentic Jamaican art...from the shops and markets in Ocho Rios. There is a pond and waterfall in the front yard where the water cascades off of a high old coral outcropping filled with tropical plants and flowers. The private pool is on the east side of the property...a great place to talk, read, sleep, and take a dip on a hot summer (or winter) day. Jamaica's climate doesn't vary much from season to season - high's in the 80's with sun and an occassional shower to make the tropical plants glisten.

Pick limes for your cola, grapefruit for breakfast, or ackee for an authentic Jamaican meal all from trees on the grounds of Barbary. Watch the cruise ships from the front veranda as they come and go from the harbor - while drinking a cup of Blue Mountain coffee, enjoy a game of cards or a board game in the game room, lounge in the sun room after a swim in the pool, watch movies from the movie library, curl up on the living room couch and read books from the villa library, or just sit back and enjoy the fabulous view of Ocho Rios by day or by night.

The Villa employs a cook (Rosetta), housekeeper (Lorraine), gardener (George), and night time security (as required by Jamaican law)(another George). Rosetta, Lorraine, and both Georges will work to make your stay one of fun, sun and a little pampering! Our staff have been with the villa for years and can give you the history of the villa and the wonderful island of Jamaica.

A trip to Jamaica is not complete without a trip to the market. Negotiate with the vendors for a favorite piece of local arts and crafts.

Dunn’s River Falls—Only 7 minutes from Barbary. A must do activity is a walk up the falls.

Fern Gully—a 3 mile stretch of highway just 5 minutes away. Fern Gully is lined with lush ferns and tropical plants.

Behind Barbary find Mahoe Falls & Coyaba River Garden. The museum offers information & displays on the original Jamaicans—the Arawaks.

Shaw Park Botanical Gardens are just minutes from Barbary, offering 25 acres of gardens and water falls.

Wassi Art Pottery Works offers a tour of their pottery factory just east of Ocho Rios & has a showroom of original works they will pack for you.

Feeling lucky? A casino in town offers machines and tables for the lucky patron.

The restaurants in Ochie are numerous and serve fantastic fare from around the world.

The villa is equipped with most everything you need for a fantastic vacation. We provide bedding, towels, & soap. The fully equipped kitchen has all the equipment you need to cook - be it gourmet or gourmand! Rosetta not only is a great cook, she can help you negotiate the stores when shopping for food...don't forget the Jamaican rum for your pina colada's - and be sure to try a rum cream!

Lorraine will keep the house neat and tidy...she will also clean your room and make up your bed. Need some laundry done? Ask Lorraine..but don't forget a little extra tip before you leave. The outside of the house will be immaculate and the pool clean as George quietly keeps everything in order. He is a wealth of knowledge on tropical plants.

George the security person arrives at sunset and stays until morning. He is up all night checking the grounds to assure you peace and quiet. He can blend in the background or will participate in a rousing conversation - whatever the guests prefer.

Rates

Low Season Price : $2900
High Season Price : $3900 per Week
The Client shall pay a deposit of 25% of the Total Rental Amount upon booking the property.

The remaining balance is due one month before the rental period. If booking within one month of the rental date, the entire contract price shall be paid upon booking.

Cancellation will result in full forfeit of monies paid unless the villa is re-rented.

A $200 damage deposit is required at the time of booking. This deposit will be returned less any amount for damages to the property - if any.

Payment can be made by cash/bank transfer, credit card or money order.
