Vacation Rental Description
Island Dream ,on a hill about 200 yards above the Caribbean, has a spectacular 180 degree view, facing West; sunsets from the decks are gorgeous. The pool, close to the house,is easy access for dipping or swimming. Each bedroom has its own deck. The bathrooms, behind each bedroom, have outdoor showers with flowering vines across the boulders. No other houses are on our road or in front, behind or on the sides of us, yet the restaurant, tennis court and large pool with waterfall at Nail Bay ( all usable for our guests) are a 4 minute walk. The 3 beaches, equidistant from the house, are famous for those in the know for snorkeling and beauty. One has chairs with umbrellas; the other two are pristine.They are each about an 8 minute walk, 3 minute drive from the house. Each bedroom has a place for a comfortable chair and table for reading;; one bedroom has a built-in desk, the other, same size bedroom, has a built-in bureau. The guest bedroom's daybed can be turned into a comfortable king size bed or two twin beds.
We live at I.D. for 6 months so the house has the sense of a well supplied and cared for home: many spices, good pots and pans, great blender, espresso maker, grill on main deck, genuinely fine art, large library of DVDs and a very literate and extensive collection of books.Our wireless internet can be accessed in any room as well as on the decks.
We love our garden and each year plant another fruit tree. The pool has a rock garden on one side ( which also has pineapple plants and aloe vera in it as well as fragrant jasmine near the front door); plants with red blooms keep the hummingbirds and banana quits ever present.Lie in the pool, look at the sea on one side or flowers and island foliage on the other and pinch yourselves, as we do, despite how often we are there, that this, indeed, is Paradise!
Our managers, Howard and Irma, are loved by all.They will attend to your every need while you are at I. D., escort you to the house and check with you to be sure all is well with you.I leave many books about fish, snorkeling, Caribbean flowers, plants and creatures for you; Howard and Irma will also answer questions about where to go, ferries and , restaurants and other island information or news.You will also like our wonderful and sweet gardener and pool man. While you are there, the pool is cleaned every other day ( except Sundays and holidays).
We built a new deck this year at the end of the pool, offering partial shade and a different view from the main deck. We have installed lights by it so that you can dine and drink in the evenings as well as sometimes having your morning beverage there while watching the bananaquits and hummingbirds sip from the tropical flowers.
Facilities
An outdoor grill on deck.All linens ,bath and beach towels come with house as do hair dryers and hand mirrors.
Activities
Virgin Gorda has some of the best snorkeling in the world ,some of it very close to our house and not yet well known by tourists. The world famous Baths are 20 minutes away and at least four high quality resorts are on the island; they are fun to go to for beaches, pools, restaurants, their stores or just to see their beauty. It also has well known dive spots and companies that will take you on any kind of diving or snorkeling or sailing expeditions.Near our house ( a few minutes walk) are the ruins of an old sugar plantation within a garden designed by the well known landscape artist who designed our garden.

Half of a deposit is due within a week of the day you made the reservation. The rest is due 45 days before you arrive. By personal check. Everyone Loves Island Dream ( they like us,too!):privacy, views, pool, sea, art,garden
I am retired psychologist; my husband worked as accountant and also in theatre.We both love to snorkel;he also plays a lot of tennis on the island ( you may use our shared court) while I paint and read--and laze about.( he returns to the USA to ski in the winter and I to see friends and family).I also volunteer on VG- teach a few hours a week at a small private school on VG and am an emotional trauma specialist for the sea, search and rescue team there ( we live in VG for 6 months each year so know it well and love it even more knowing it so intimately!)
Howard and Irma, our lovely and competent managers, take care of you while you are on island.
After you pay in full, I send you a LONG ,often updated letter suggesting activities, restaurants, the best beaches, snorkeling etc.We charge 10% less for taxes than most homes near us because we use different managers.
I am always glad to answer your questions and share my pride in our house and in Virgin Gorda.
