GO TO YEPTON ESTATES
If you are looking for the perfect base from which to enjoy Antigua then you won't find any better than Yepton Estates. When my partner and I were first researching accomodation on Antigua we would read the reviews on here for Yepton and think "surely it can't be as good as everyone says it is? they must be exaggerating or made up?" but no. It really is as wonderful as everyone says it is. Firstly the hosts, Douglas and Gabriela; no doubt you will have read lots about them on here as we did before we booked. I can only tell you that what everyone else is saying is true; they are wonderful hosts that are not only exceptionally kind and welcoming but very very good at what they do. Nothing is too much trouble for them and when you leave you really do feel as though you will miss them! I would recommend taking Gabby up on her offer of taking you to the supermarket when you first arrive. She will guide you around, give you some insider tips on what to look out for and help you to feel settled and confident in your new environment. Also Douglas takes the time to go through a map of the isalnd and point out all the bits you really must see. A car is recommended so that you can explore the island and Gabby is more than happy to arrange this for you.
The accomodation is fantastic. We have never stayed anywhere before that so well appointed. It has everything you need from towlels, hairdryer, iron etc to every possible kitchen item you will need. Everything is clean, modern and comfortable. We stayed in the 1 bedroom cottage by the lake and would personally recommend it if you are looking for the prime postion - the view is wonderful. However we did get the opportunity to see the interioirs of the studio apartment also during our stay and they were exactly the same high standard and attention to detail as the 1 bed just more compact; both are lovely. Most nights we grilled food on the big bbq on the porch and sat there enjoying it whilst the sun went down. Some nights you see the cruise ships suddenly appear over the tops of the palm trees as they are leaving the island and it is quite a sight. Included in your cottage is a cool box and fold-down seats to take to the beach - we used these most days and they were really handy to have. The cottages all get wi-fi and satellite channels which is a nice touch.

PARADISE
After our trip to Dominica we came to Yepton estate. It was like paradise. Gabriela and Douglas are so nice and helpfull. They gave us so many good tips: nice Restaurants, sights and great beaches.. we felt like home. The cottages are so comfortable. Nothing is missing. In case of any issue, you can always contcat Gabriela and Douglas every time. They also gave us a cell phone in case that we will have a problem or a question during a trip. At the beginning Gabriela drove with us to the best supermarket on the island. It is so personal in Yepton estate and you don´t feel like a number. At the afternoon you can sit on the lake which is directly near the cottages and relax. Wonderful.. If I will ever come back to Antigua for Holiday I would go back to Yepton Estate..

"Unforgettable Holiday!"
Although i travelled quite extensively I've never experienced such hosptality. As soon as we arrived Gabriella took us doing some shopping in a local store and we were set. The same day we were given also a mobile phone for emergencies which is something extremely thoughtful (the island though is very safe but you can get lost in the maze of beaches). The following day Douglas, her husband, gave us a proper review of the island, spending with us more than an hour explaining best spots and beach cafes all around the island along with some great stories from his interesting life in South america. The cottages, which are very well furnished and with a great bbq on the porch, are located in front of a salt water lake full of pellicans and are close to a very nice beach (5 min away) you can reach passing through an hotel (where you can stop for a beer) and if you walk a bit more there is another great beach (Hideway beach) which was empty when we went there. St John is 10 min away driving and you're not more than 30 min away from the best beaches (half moon bay and the one with the Nest bar - which of course Douglas suggest us!!). Additionally they booked for us a great restaurant downtown (Papa Zouk) and an excursion which unfortunately we were not be able to enjoy as to much sun kissed!! Great holiday ... hopefully back in November!!

REVIEWS LED US HERE, EXPERIENCE WILL BRING US BACK
If you are looking for a clean, quiet and peaceful place to spend a vacation/holiday, this is the place for you. As there are only four cottages, two studios and two one bedroom, the maximum number of guests on the property will likely be eight. The cottages are situated in a way where privacy is not an issue as the property is expansive. You're not walking out the front door only to run into your neighbor. The trees and natural landscaping provide significant shade and additional privacy from the sun and other cottages. The grounds are maintained regularly to ensure ultimate cleanliness. An afternoon in the hammock listening to the waves crash into shore on the other side of the lagoon is the perfect prescription for just about any ailment.
Gabriella and Douglas are service oriented and strive to make your experience of Antigua nothing short of exceptional. If needed they will drive you the Epicurean (supermarket) on your first day in order to buy some groceries. Gabriella will even be your personal assistant at the store, educating you on the values and what to stay away from. Most groceries are expensive in Antigua so take her advice. They are also extremely helpful on recommendations for restaurants, beaches, excursions, rental cars and island life. If you need a reservation, ask them and they will make it for you.
Yepton is not an all-inclusive resort with expansive swimming pools, hot tubs, bars (although there is one at the resort next door which is only a five minute walk), restaurants and wild nightlife. It is a perfectly secluded relaxing and clean home base from which to explore the wonderful island of Antigua.

FAMILY HOLIDAY
We just returned home from a wonderful stay at Antigua's Yepton Estate Cottages. We reserved two cottages for our week long stay. A one-bedroom for our family and then a studio for grandma. It could not have worked out any better.
We had read many reviews about the quality service that Douglas and Gabriela offer their guests, which were quite right. From the moment we booked to the time they left, they were always offering helpful suggestions and information.
Gabriela took us to the grocery store the first night of our arrival to pickup food. She also gave us a quick tour on the way, which proved very beneficial when driving the island the next day. Douglas sat down with us and went through the entire island map, so we wouldn't get lost (most street signs aren't labeled). They also suggested tours, restaurants and beaches that would fit our needs. It was a great help.
The accommodations were cozy, clean and spacious. Literally, the cabin had everything we needed to stay the week. Cooking supplies, beach chairs, cooler, bug spray, TV, radio, internet connection, cell phone use, etc. We were traveling with a 20 month old, so they also supplied us with a pack-and-play crib. It worked out perfectly.
The grounds are very pretty with a lot of flowers, banana plants, birds, etc. The small pool was just perfect for our daughter. It came to about waste deep on us, so we could move around in it well with her. She also loved the hammock and lake. I have to say breakfast on our deck every morning was one of our favorite things. Very peaceful and pretty.
We loved Antigua and staying at the Yepton Estate Cottages. The beaches are beautiful and there are so many to choose from. A week just isn't enough time. We also visited Nelson's Dockyard, drove Fig Tree Drive (through the rainforest), took an Eco Adventure day boat trip and had the BBQ at Shirley Heights. It's a great place to visit and we highly recommend it.

BEST KEPT SECRET IN THE CARIBBEAN
This was our first time in Antigua, it won’t be our last and we would definitely stay at Yepton cottages again.
If you want a quiet time, somewhere to relax all day or return to after a long day any of the 365 beaches on Antigua, these cottages are perfect. Our one bed room cottage was nicely furnished, and fully equipped with TV, stereo, and all the kitchen equipment needed to cook a big meal. It had a veranda on 2 sides with chairs, a hammock and a gas fired barbeque! It was nice to have the separate air conditioned bedroom as it gives you more space than you need, but it’s like home from home.
What really makes the accommodation perfect is the fact that the owners, Gabby and Douglas live next door to the cottages and they are the perfect hosts. They picked us up from our 5 star resort (we now wish we had gone straight to Yepton) and helped us buy groceries. They arranged our hire car which arrived the next morning on the dot of 9am, the agent commenting – “if’s there any problem, let them know straight away as it got to be perfect as far as Gabby is concerned”. They gave use a first day briefing on the island - where to go and how to get there (your never lost with Douglas’s maps and landmarks), where the best places are to eat are and they even booked tables for us. Then they told us the beach chairs, cool box, and parasol were in the cupboard and to make sure we used them – was there anything they had not thought about? Finally, they gave us a local mobile phone with credit on and said, if we needed anything at all 24/7 call them and you just knew they would be there if you did.
You may read some reviews about Antigua which go on about security and the state of the roads. We never felt concerned at all. It’s true the hotels have fences (to keep out the beach hawkers mostly) and the roads have big holes in them. Yepton security is the fact that it’s entirely hidden and you have to pass their home before you can get to the cottages. The holes in the road mean that you drive slowly with due regard to others on the road – we should have more of them at home!
We cannot thank Gabby and Douglas enough for making our 25th wedding anniversary a dream holiday and we would highly recommend Yepton Cottages to anyone.

“Just as good second time around”
This was our second visit to Yepton and going back is often a let down. Not this one though. The place was as lovely and welcoming as ever. If you want to shun those big hotels and give yourself the freedom to do your own thing then this is the place to be. Gabie and Douglas could not be more helpful. They will recommend places to visit and to eat, take you supermarket shopping and supply anything you forget or run out of. The location is serene, the accommodation is spotless. You might need a car if you are not a walker but it is eay to get a lift and catch the local buses. We will be returning for a third trip in 2011

“Perfect spot for relaxation and the Antiguan experience”
I've been to Antigua 3 times now, and Yepton was by far my best experience. The cottages are tucked away, private, away from the noise of other touristy areas, and yet very comfortable and well-equipped, and an easy drive to town, markets, and tourist adventures. Gabbie and Douglas were terrific hosts - really, it was like visiting family (in the best of ways). They helped me to find my way around the nearby town, pointed out best places to eat, great beaches, and even lent me a few items I had forgotten. Sitting at the edge of the saltwater lake was very relaxing, and its a short walk ( less than 5 minutes) to several nearby beaches. I'd go back in a second!

“If you want to explore the island or have peace and quiet, this is the place to stay.”
Gabriela and Douglas really made our experience of Antigua wonderful. We are sure we would have been hopelessly lost, not gone to such great restaurants and not found such wonderful beaches if it were not for their help. We are a married couple in our 20's, and we like exploring when we travel... this place was perfect for us.
This is not the place to stay if you are looking for an all-inclusive vacation with a crowded beach and a pool with a swim up bar.
However, this is the place to stay if you want a quiet vacation or if you want to explore the island and all it has to offer.
The cottages are like a home away from home. Gabriela takes all of the guests grocery shopping (at a wonderful grocery store which is has wonderful selection), and you stock up your fridge. Douglas meets with you and reviews the map in detail (important because Antigua has few road signs and massive pot holes). He gives hints on good restaurants, on the best beaches (the most quiet, the best snorkelling beaches) and even tells you when the best time is to go to these beaches, for instance when they are the most quiet.
Gabriela will make restaurant reservations for you. This is helpful because she knows the restaurant owners and will ensure you have a good experience at the restaurants.

“Perfect place, single mum with child couldn't have been more pleased”
Really pretty cottage, well equipped and clean. There is nothing you could need and if you did the hosts would bend over backwards to help I am sure. It is a safe place, secluded, yet very safe. Extremely pretty location. The hosts, Gabriela and Douglas, are the best of all my many travels.
Two resorts within very short walking distance provide a choice of great beaches. Perfect for the quiet vacation we wanted, and close enough to town to get a quick cab in for errands and shopping. Did two excursions which were lovely.
As for the island, it has the friendliest nicest people I have met in the entire carribean. That was the icing on the cake.

“Lovely cottage, even better service”
My husband and I stayed at Yepton for our wedding and honeymoon. It was wonderful. The location is beautiful-on a lovely lake with pretty wildlife. Only 4 cottages so very, very private. A beautiful beach is just next door. You can use the resort's lounge chairs and umbrellas.
The owners of Yepton are simply wonderful. They give you everything you could possibly need. We came in late and Gaby and Douglas stayed up late to greet us, show us to our room, how to work everything. Gaby even gave us bread, cheese, and some salami because she knew we’d be hungry and didn’t have time to go to the grocery. Next day Gaby took us to town to meet with the wedding legality people, took us to the grocery, and hired a car for us. Douglas gave us insights about what beaches to go to and where to eat. Absolutely go to Half Moon Bay for the beach and Papa Zouk's for dinner.
Gaby took care of all our wedding plans. All the paperwork, flowers, cake, champagne, hiring the officiant. It was so much better than we ever could have anticipated. I was convinced I wanted to be married on the beach but at the last minute I changed my mind and decided to have it at the cottages. More private, quant, and still so very pretty. Everything was fantastic. Gaby set us up a reservation for dinner afterward at Sheer Rocks—a delicious 4 start restaurant overlooking gorgeous scenery and water.
Many, many thanks to Gabriela and Douglas. I was emailing Gaby back and forth for a few months to get all the details in place. She was always very helpful and accommodating. Gaby and Douglas want you to enjoy their beautiful island and cottages. They want to help you have the best time you can. They really seem to enjoy what they do and are so good at it.
A note about the cottages: everything you could need and more. Big bed, nice bureau for your clothes, stereo so you can hook up your ipod or use CDs, DVD player and a collection of DVDs for use, books, hair dryer, iron/ironing board, huge porches with table and gas grill, internet access (you can use their wireless router if you only have Wi-fi—we only had our wi-fi Ipad and were fine).

ONE OF THE BEST HOLIDAYS WE'VE EVER HAD - CAN'T RECOMMEND HIGHLY ENOUGH
We wondered if all the great reviews had somehow been doctored but having just returned after two fabulous weeks, we can honestly say what a wonderful time we've had. The cottages at Yepton are peaceful, well equipped and in lovely grounds. Gabby and Douglas are not only great fun but more helpful than we could possibly explain. We felt like we were staying with really good friends - not just hosts. Staying at the cottages gives the option of self catering (inc. bbq) if hotel food isn't your thing, or eating out (there are more than enough great places). We enjoyed the fact that we weren't cooped up with lots of others in a hotel, scrambling for sunbeds etc. but could also chat to (or have a drink with) the other guests.

ONE OF OUR BEST VACAYION DESTINATIONS! SHH A HIDDEN GEM
The moment we arrived was pleasant. Being from the US and having to drive on the opposite side of the road I was a lttle nervous. The directions to the cottages were on the money! I have to say the week was total enjoyment. We explored the Island thanks to Douglas's wisdom of the map and the island. We made breakfast most mornings, packed the cooler for the afternoon beach exursions...our own excursions. Douglas and gabby had a local friend who owned a sail boat and invited us to go sailing in a local race. It was a first for me and was a great start to a adventurous week. This saty was totally off beat from your normal resort style. We felt like we were among the locals. This quiant cottage is highly recommended. We will return to Antigua. And we will be staying with Gabby and Douglas.

FANTASTIC PRE-BABY HOLIDAY!
My husband and I just returned from a wonderful 'babymoon' at Yepton Estates! Our hosts, Gabby & Douglas are lovely people-- very accomodating from the moment we arrived and made us feel comfortable and welcome. I was 7 1/2 months pregnant at the time and needed accomodation that was clean, comfy, and allowed us flexibility to cook for ourselves. Yepton was all that and more, like a little home away from home, well-equipped with everything we needed from barbecuing tools to hot pads, etc. Gabby even drove us to the grocery store which had all the same products we use at home (important for expecting moms!), and they arranged for a renatl car to arrive for us on the 2nds day too. We spent most of our week just relaxing, hitting some of the amazing beaches (of the 365 Antigua offers!) and restaurants recommended by our hosts, reading in the hammock on our porch- big enough for 2 (or 3!), swimming in the pool, or taking nap in the comfy air-conditioned bedroom. One morning, my husband arranged with Gabby for a prenatal masseur to come to the cottage as a surprise- amazing! The whole trip was fantastic and so relaxing, just what this mommy-to-be needed! We'd recommend Yepton Estates highly especially to expectant couples looking for a restful break in beautiful surroundings. Enjoy!

Excellent Babymoon / Mommy-moon vacation!
There are many many wonderful, glowing reviews of Yepton Estate Cottages and of Gabi and Douglas here on this site, and I absolutely agree with them. We loved Gabi and Douglas, the cottages, the estate, and the beaches. I am not going to repeat all the same points. I will, however, give you the somewhat unique perspective of a 6.5 month pregnant couple on a babymoon vacation, or as Gabi liked to call it our "mommy-moon".
We stayed in one of the studio cottages and were perfectly happy with it. We never missed the separate bedroom. In fact, in the middle of the night when I had to use the restroom repeatedly, I was happy to have a very short walk to the bathroom. I never needed to turn the light on for this trip (the beautiful moonlight lit my way) and I never disturbed my husband getting up from the large, king-sized bed. We also never missed the kitchen table that the 1 BR cottage shows. We ate all of our meals at the beautiful teak table outside on the porch. The weather outdoors was divine to enjoy meals on the covered porch and we were never bothered by mosquitoes or other bugs, as we have at some other Caribbean locations. So, if you prefer a 1BR cottage, but only a studio is available when you want to visit- don't worry and don't hesitate to book!
Here are some nice touches available to all guests in every cottage that I especially appreciated as a pregnant lady: Upon arriving, we found a full gallon+ of cold bottled water in the fridge. I really appreciated this, as I was making an effort to drink the recommended 64+ oz of water a day and the flight had made me dehydrated. There were 4 long pillows on the bed- this made it easy for me to stay comfortable at night by arranging the 2 extra pillows around myself as-needed. The bed was firm (NOT rock-hard), which is best for pregnant sleeping. There was an air conditioner right above the bed with a convenient hand-held remote. In my state of heightened metabolism, I really appreciated the AC at night. I also found the remote easy to operate in the middle of the night without turning the light on, as the different button functions all had different shapes- so I could remember which was which. Included in the well-appointed and organized kitchen was a cooler- which we could take with us on our daily excursions and keep healthy snacks like veggies, yogurt, water, etc cool for me to access when we were away from the cottage (bring some Nalgene (other other bottles) that you can fill up with water and take with you). And perfect for the cooler- the freezer had an ice maker. In addition, there was an electric kettle with which I could quickly make tea while my husband used the coffee maker. On the morning after we arrived, Gabi took us to a very good supermarket- it had everything that we would have expected in the states (except for quinoa ;-) We were able to buy several gallons of bottled water for the rest of the week (I think 5 worked for us, since I drank a lot of water), quality meat and fish, fresh local eggs, good fruits and vegetables (even organic), good breads, and dairy (local pasteurized milk, yogurt, ice cream)- everything you need to make sure that you're eating healthfully for your developing little person. And it was reasonably priced as well, which was surprising to us after having visited several other Caribbean islands where food was more expensive. In addition, Gabi took us to the local farmers' market which had excellent fruits and vegetables. We tended to spend most of our time exploring the various beautiful beaches, historical sites, or restaurants; but when my energy level was low, walking 5 min to the beach next door to just float in the aquamarine water was divine.
A note about transportation: I really appreciated that we rented a car (Gabi pre-arranged with Tropical rentals). The roads are quite bumpy with lots of potholes and rough patches and the taxis and buses drive quite aggressively. I was relieved to be able to drive at my own pace and reduce the bumps and jostles to a minimum, while traveling according to our own schedule and whims.
Now for the hosts: as others have said, Gabi and Douglas were excellent- they really make an effort to provide the utmost in customer service. But more than that, Gabi was like my mom-away-from-home. NOT in an overbearing way, but in a caring, thoughtful way. She was very in-tune with my pregnancy and my needs. A simple example- she made sure to let us know which food establishments to steer away from and which dishes to avoid since pregnancy makes a woman more susceptible to food poisoning (potentially devastating to a developing unborn baby). As others have said, I feel that we left as friends, complete with hugs. We have promised to share news and pictures of the baby when he arrives.
At the time we visited, there was no "mommy-moon" or babymoon special. However, having recently hosted a number of pregnant couples, all enjoying their last solitary vacation, Gabi was seriously considering initiating such a special. If she has done so by now, I'm sure that she will include some additional special touches for the mommy- and daddy-to-be. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay even without a special, and highly recommend Gabi and Douglas' establishment as a safe, clean, relaxing, comfortable, and excellent place to stay if you are expecting (or even if you're not).

AMAZING - COULDN'T HAVE ASKED FOR ANYTHING MORE
Our third visit to Antigua could not have been better. This was our first experience not staying in a hotel or all inclusive resort. From the moment we arrived until we (sadly) left, everything at Yepton Estate Cottages was perfect. Gabby and Douglas are perfect hosts - providing info, assistance, advice, restaurant recommendations and great friendship. The cottage was beautifully appointed, spotlessly clean, a fabulous supply of hot water, and every kitchen gadget and appliance you could ask for. Even the icemaker kept up with our needs! The 'extras' were so nice - the ability to have a starter package (we opted for both dinner and breakfast) stocked and waiting so we could relax on arrival, having the rental car arranged and delivered to our door the first morning, were yet another way to guarantee instant relaxation on arrival with no worries. (We took a taxi from the airport which was simple to do). The provided beach chairs and cooler were an absolute, and daily, necessity. The two beaches close by are both in walking distance (unless the cooler is heavy), and we made several trips to them, and many more to others by car that were very reasonable distances away. We also enjoyed relaxing at the pool right outside our door. The island is easy to navigate by car, and we found the distance to the city, grocery stores, beaches, restaurants, etc. very manageable. It was a perfect vacation, and we have been recommending Antigua and Yepton Cottages to our friends since our return home, as well as plotting our own return.

GETTING MARRIED IN A STRESSFREE WAY
I know when you read all the reviews you read how absolutely great Yepton is and you think there is no way it can be this good, but I assure you it is. My husband and I decided to get married in Antigua while staying at Yepton. I can honestly say this was the best decision we have made. Gabby and Douglas took care of every last detail from the hair appointment to getting us a reservation to celebrate with a romantic dinner. I was a little nervous about having a wedding with just my husband to be and I but I truly felt like I had family standing there with me on the big day. The wedding day could not have been any better and I did not have to worry about anything.
After the big day is when my husband and I started to really enjoy the island. Gabby and Douglas were there to show us where to go to really enjoy the island and how to get there. Had we stayed at a big hotel they would not have given us the details on how to enjoy the island to the fullest like Gabby and Douglas did for us. They were even there for us when we unexpectedly got a flat tire later on in the evening, and setting us up with their local guy the next day to have it fixed inexpensively.
Yepton was the best place we could have stayed in Antigua and this was by far the best vacation we have had thanks to Gabby and Douglas. Not to mention Yepton is in a beautiful location and extremely romantic, a great place for a wedding/honeymoon. I not only gained a husband on this trip but I also gained two new friends in Gabby and Douglas, my husband and I count down the days until we can see them again. I would strongly recommend staying at Yepton!!

Yepton Estate Cottage is absolutely wonderful.. My girlfriend had sought a week of escapism in early June.. Yepton Cottages certainly provided that and more!! The cottage was in an idyllic location overlooking a tranquil lake with a little bird-life to keep you entertained!! The cottage itself surpassed our expectations.. it was incredibly clean and comfortable.. and all interior utensils and furniture are of the highest quality!! Gabby and Douglas are the perfect hosts.. In no way intrusive but seemed to be always on hand with assistance and help when required.. They ensure you do not want for anything!! Absolutely fantastic stay.. could not recommend it more a highly!!

LOVELY SPOT - GREAT ALTERNATIVE TO THE ALLINCLUSIVE
This place has got the best reviews of anywhere I have ever stayed and it didn't disappoint. Gabby and Douglas are so helpful and welcoming. We arrived late because of our flight being delayed and one of our bags was coming on a later flight because there was no room on ours so we had to go back to the airport. They insisted that Douglas take my boyfriend back to the airport to help him retrieve our bag which we thought was way beyond their call of duty and something you would never get from a hotel! We were greeted on arrival with a cold beer and a gift of a bottle of wine, such nice touches that make you feel at home. The bungalows are well presented and very comfortable and clean with everything you could possibly need (especially in the kitchen) and all four overlook a small pool and a lake, which is a lovely setting. The nearest beach is accessed through a hotel, no more than a five minute walk away, where they have a special arrangement with Yepton for guests to use the beach. Gabby and Douglas will tell you everything you need to know about getting around the island from the best beaches and resturants to where the worst potholes are! You are fully kitted out for the beach with beach chairs, sun shade, cold box and snorkelling gear so you don't have to worry about renting those 10 dollar beach chairs or keeping your drinks cold. Self catering is right up our street as I prefer it to being bound to a hotel on an all inclusive but even for those of you who don't normally go for SC they make it so easy here, you even have a deck with a BBQ and they show you where the best supermarkets are.
We will definately go back sometime and it would be nice to visit with friends and family as they have four bungalows.

IT'S LIKE HOME.......IN PARADISE!
My husband and I recently stayed at Yepton Estate Cottages for a week. We were celebrating a combination one-year anniversary, belated honeymoon and a babymoon! Our cottage was well-appointed, clean, cozy and felt like a real home-away-from-home. It was especially great for me as an expectant mom to be able to have a full kitchen and grill so we could cook meals at home after long days at the beach or exploring Antigua. Gabriela and Douglas were wonderful hosts and pointed us in the right direction in terms of orientation to the island, where to shop, where to eat, etc.. It was nice to feel so taken care of. We highly recommend Yepton for anyone who wants a private, clean, friendly place to call home while you are on vacation.

THE PERFECT VACATION SPOT
From the moment we arrived until the moment we left, Gabby and Douglas made us feel welcome and did everything possible to ensure our vacation was more than enjoyable. And they succeeded. The cottages are situated on an inland lake and the quiet and solitude was a rare find on a popular beach island. The cottages are comfortable, smartly decorated, and equipped with all items necessary for a beach vacation from beach chairs to a cooler. We could also easily access the beaches, museums and points of interest. It was the perfect vacation spot.

RELAXING AND TRANQUIL PLACE
If you read some or all reviews for the Yepton Estate you understand how special this place is. Gabby and Doug make the difference. Very personable but not imposing service, great first-hand knowledge of the island affairs, always ready to recommend a beach, restaurant or places to see based on your interest. This is a perfect place to relax and enjoy a quiet time after spending much of the day on one of the exploring the island. We just came back after a week-long vacation and I am already checking tickets for possible come back in the near future. I cannot think of anything that would make this place better.

WONDERFUL PLACE
Quiet, serene, and beautiful best describes Yepton Estate Cottages. The cottages are a home away from home stocked with a microwave, dishes, utensils, CD player that connects to an IPod, and more they thought about everything. As a student, I especially appreciated the complementary Internet access. But, what I appreciated most was the kindness, sincerity, professionalism, and willingness to help of Gabrielle and Douglass. I have stayed at a variety of hotels on numerous occasions in the Caribbean and elsewhere, and I must say that the service and the willingness to help expressed by Gabrielle and Douglass was exceptional. The housekeeper was also very helpful. My only regret is that I was too busy to fully enjoy the place. I would definitely stay at Yepton again and highly recommend it.

WARM, FRIENDLY, HELPFUL HOSTS
Yepton Estate Cottages are very well run by owners Gaby and Douglas. The two have created the perfect setting for a relaxing Caribbean getaway. Douglas was so very kind as to spend a few hours with us on our first morning giving us a detailed overview of the entire island of Antigua with personal recommendations of things to do and see, and when we mentioned we were unsure of what islands to visit next he gave us an overview of all the islands in the area. Gaby welcomed us warmly with ice-cold drinks, a tour of the cottage and a guided trip to the local supermarket so that we could self-cater. Additionally the cottages are very well appointed, and maintained, with everything you could need for your trip.

UNIQUE EXPERIENCE
Home, away from home! Very quiet surroundings. Extremely clean and cozy. Cottages are brand new, so are all the appliances and household items. Eco-friendly cottages. Physically-challenged friendly cottages. Close contact with nature; (Mongooses, Iguanas, Birds, etc). There's a beautiful lake on the premises. Swimming pool is excellent for kids. Management is impeccably friendly with years of experience in the hospitality field and in Antigua as well. Thank you Gabriela and Douglas for everything. Our trip couldn't be more pleasant without you.

YEPTON COTTAGES OFFERS TOTAL ESAPISM - ABSOLUTE PERFECTION!!
Yepton Cottages is absolutely bliss.. My girlfriend and I sought a week of escapism in early June.. and Yepton Cottages certainly allowed us that.. The location is very idyllic overlooking a tranquil lake and a little wildlife to keep you entertained. We loved it.. so relaxing of a morning sitting outside on the patio taking breakfast.. and returning of an evening to chill after a day on the go!! Gabby and Douglas were the perfect hosts.. always on hand to give assistance and guidance.. The cottage itself surpassed our expectations.. very comfortable and clean. All utensils, products and furniture were of very high quality.. You really did not want for anything and could not ask for more.. Absolutely wonderful.. we could not recommend it more highly!!

THIS IS THE PLACE
There is only one word to describe our stay at Yepton...perfect. When we arrived, we were welcomed not only by a beautiful view of the cozy cottages and saltwater lake, but also the warm hospitality of Gaby And Douglas. Yepton is not a commercialized hotel, it is a small group of intimate cottages run by two incredible hosts who in a matter of days became our "old friends". They told us everything we needed to know about the island, showed us around, and while they built a close personal rapport with us they were never intrusive, and in fact were one of the highlights of our trip.
The cottages are cozy, complete with a full kitchen and BBQ which means you can cook up your own meals if you want (we ate out sometimes and other times cooked our own meals with fresh local produce). There are only 4 cottages, perfect for those like us looking to get away on a more private vacation. The lake there is pretty (and I fished in it a few times) and it’s only a few minute walk to the pretty beach on the other side. My girlfriend and I were hesitant to get a car (I'll leave driving on the left side of the road to those with more practice!), but Gaby was gracious enough to let us catch a ride with her into town to get groceries. The beaches are beautiful, and I highly recommend going during low season - we went in June and one day we were the only two visitors on one of the island's most popular beaches!
We've been to several of the Caribbean islands, and each has its high points, but between Gaby and Douglas’ hospitality, the cozy and intimate cottages, the beautiful beaches, the great seafood and the friendly people, this trip was overall one of our favorite Caribbean experiences. Yepton is the perfect place for privacy and tranquility, and we've never felt more welcomed by our hosts. They treated us more like old friends than guests and our stay would not have been complete without them. We will certainly visit Antigua again in the future and would not stay anywhere but Yepton.

FABULOUS ACCOMMODATION
If you are looking to do your own thing in Antigua rather then going to an all inclusive hotel, but you still want to have a great standard, then this is the perfect place. The surroundings are absolutely gorgeous and picturesque, it is so worth going there just to hang out by the pool and watch the beautiful humming birds pass by. The cottage itself has absolutely everything you can think of, no need to bring anything with you expect for your own personal things. We have travelled to 4 different destinations before going to Yepton and it was by far the best accomodation we have stayed at. The owners are also lovely people, they will introduce you to Antigua and give you allt he information you need! Even though we arrved very late, they were still there waiting for us until we got there. We were even offered a complimentary bottle of wine. If you are looking for a unique place to stay at, then this is definitely a MUST!

GREAT PLACE
After reading all of the reviews, we knew we wanted to stay at the Yepton Estates for our honeymoon. This place definitely did not disappoint. The cottages were very clean and the beach nearby was amazing. We spent everyday at the beach and thoroughly enjoyed having the beach chairs that were part of the cottage rental. We actually upgraded during our stay so we got to stay in both types of rooms. I definitely recommend spending a few extra bucks for the one bedroom cottage. Both cottages were nice but the one bedroom was a lot more comfortable and had a ton more space.
We used the kitchen a lot since we cooked most of our meals. The kitchen was well stocked with all of the equipment you may need to cook a gourmet meal.
Gabby and Douglas, the owners, were great and very helpful. They are amazing hosts
that will do anything to make your stay the best it can be. Gabby even took us to the grocery store the first night and gave us some great pointers. Douglas really knows the island was a great resource.
The only downfall to our trip was the driving. We rented a car and drove from the airport to the cottages. We decided to rent a car through Gabby after we read some of the other reviews. Some reviewers said driving around the island was not too bad and that renting a car was the way to go. We unfortunately did not have the same experience. Of course it was awkward driving on the other side of the road and from the other side within the car. That was to be expected. However what we did not expect the crazy Antigua drivers and all of the pot holes. Driving in St. John's was the worst! Driving elsewhere on the island was manageable as long it was not raining. There truly are not many signs, instead you rely on landmarks. We traveled a bit around the island but we were more content hanging out at the beach near the cottages. We did visit 6 or 7 beaches and the beach by the cottages, Coconut Beach, was by far the best. The only beach we did not make it to that could have been a good comparison was Half Moon Bay. It is supposedly amazing but the hour+ drive each way deterred us.
Overall, we had an amazing trip. If we ever make it back to Antigua, we will definitely be staying at the Yepton Estates with Gabby and Douglas.

FANTASTICALLY RELAXING HOLIDAY
My wife and I have just returned from spending a truly lovely week at Yepton. Gabby and Douglas were great host and went out of their way to make us feel welcome. They did all they could to make our stay as enjoyable as possible from answering queries before we arrived to orgainising car rentals, giving detailed advice on the best beaches, restaurants and things to do around the beautiful island of Antigua. On our first day Gabby even gave us a lift to the local supermarket to stock up on provisions!
Yepton is in a beautiful tranquil location within a short walk of two lovely quiet white sandy beaches. We had lovely sunny weather with just a couple of rain showers during our stay in November. The cottages are modern, spotless and very comfotable and we found they had everything necessary for self catering. We paritcularly loved the balcony and barbeque!
We had a really wonderful break and really cannot recommend Yepton more highly. We travel a lot and will definitely be recommending Yepton to friends and family. Beautiful location, excellent facilities and Gabby and Douglas are great hosts going out of their way to make sure we and all their guests were as relaxed and comfortable as possible.
Amazing service and excellent value!!!

GABBY AND DOUGLAS MAKE ANTIGUA EASY
When my girlfriend and I checked in, both of us remarked that Yepton's met our every expectation. The cottages themselves are adorable and clean, with cable television and internet access. The little lagoon off the back porch was home to plenty of neat island birds like the rare west indian whistling duck (which we were fortunate enough to snap some great pictures of), antillean bullfinches and bananaquits as well as the nightly visits by great frigate birds swooping in like pterodactyls. The grounds are well kept with beautiful trees and flowers. Gabby and Douglas did so much for us, from great recommendations about where to visit, helping us plan our trips and routes on a map, made reservations for us, got our rental car for us, and were always there with great advice. We even went to dinner with them... they are great people. We absolutely loved our stay and we are definitely going back. Now, if you are the type of people that just want to drink and party and not really experience Antigua, go to Sandals. You are NOT right on the beach (there is a short walk, and that is what is advertised). If you want to really experience Antigua and are adventurous at heart, Yepton's is the place for you! Be advised that there is a small exit tax when you leave Antigua, which Gabby and Douglas have nothing to do with. I think it was $60 USD or so. (It was the least I could do to help some carribean kids go to school, or to pave a road for the great time I had in Antigua). Lastly, a shout out to Gabby and Douglas: We love you guys!

LIKE STAYING WITH FRIENDS
The four cottages are located in grounds that overlook a small swimming pool and a lake. The property is well away from any main roads so its a really peaceful place. At night all you can hear are the tree frogs and the ocean while you look up at the stars. We stayed in a studio cottage - large comfortable bed and wardrobe at one end and very well equipped kitchen area at the other, plus nicely appointed ensuite shower room. Outside, the cottage has a wooden verangah with chairs and dining table and a gas barbeque.
The hosts Gabi and Doug treat you like visiting friends and nothing is too much trouble. On arrival Gabi drove us to a large supermarket to stock up on food for self catering - everything you could hope for here as it has a bakery, delicatessen, wine department as well as selling vegetables and general groceries. When we found we had somehow forgotten to pick up the bottles of water, Gabi left us a large bottle on the verandah the next day. I think Gabi and Doug were a bit bemused by the fact that we didnt want to hire a car but wanted to travel on local buses... but the next day Doug turned up with details of the bus routes and suggestions of places that we could reach fairly easily. They also found out about excursions being run by the small resort hotel whcih is a few minutes walk away - we went on the hotel's trip to Shirley Heights for the Steel Band evenings that take place on Sundays which was fun. They also have an arrangement with the hotel so that you can access their beach and loungers - nice white sand and pretty empty when we went but avoid dusk when the sand flies come out!
If you mention that you are interested in doing anything, within a few hours Gabi will have found out about it for you - but with no obligation attached. We asked Gabi to book us on one of the boat tours round the island and when she found out that it wasnt going to pick up at the resort hotel as planned, she drove us to the main town to meet the boat rather than just leaving us to book a taxi. Doug and Gabi will also recommend places for dinner - we ate at Papa Zouks (St Johns) - nice ambiance and reasonable priced fish dishes - and Caterine's Cafe at Nelson's Dockyard (pretty expensive but fantastic waterside setting, friendly staff and jazz band on Wednesdays). We would defintely recommend Yepton cottages to anyone who wants to avoid impersonal resport hotels and stay instead in well equipped cottages in beautiful surroundings with fantastic hosts who do everything possible to ensure you have a great stay.

GREAT PLACE
One can never be too sure when renting a cottage but this place was the best. First of all it is so well equipped you will think it was your own personal getaway. Anything you can possibly think of is provided. We were even given a cell phone to use while there! Gabriela and Douglas (owners/hosts) are so accomodating and just dear people. Yepton is not located on the beach but is very close. We could hear the waves when relaxing on the ample covered porch. If you want to be away from it all but a reasonable distance from town this is the place. I would highly recommend Yepton Estate Cottages and would go back in a heartbeat.

HOME AWAY FROM HOME
First of all I must thank our hosts Gabie and Douglas for making our stay so comfortable and enjoyable. We are worldwide travellers and can really say this was a holiday we will keep forever in our memory.
Our cottage was excellent with all the amenties one can desire for cooking relaxing and even entertaining.
Whenever we did not have transport Gabie did the shopping for us which was really good because she knew exactly where to find the best fruits and vegetables in the market.
Douglas helped us out with our internet connection in the cottage and we were free to use our iphone at any time.
There is so much I could relate but you would have to go there yourself to know what I am talking about.
I can only recommend Yepton to anyone who want a quiet holiday and not looking for too much entertainment. Entertainment can be had but you definitely need a car for this although taxis are readily available.
There are two beaches to choose from within walking distance.
Any questions you have can be easily answered by Gabie and Douglas as they have been living on the island for about 30 years.

A HIDDEN ANTIGUAN GEM
An absolutely incredible, intimate set of four cottages on the edge of a peaceful salt water lagoon. The kitchens in each cottage go beyond with smart touches like tupperware, and, even better, each cottage has its own BBQ.
What really sets Yepton apart, however, are the proprietors, Gabby & Douglas. They are truly dedicated to ensure your stay is a memorable and pleasant one. They know every nook and cranny of the island so you can confidently leave your Lonely Planet at home. Without a doubt, they have a true passion for what they do.
Without a doubt, this is a property that deserves its high rating.

WONDERFUL CHRISTMAS AT YEPTON ESTATES
Given all the 5 star reviews Yepton Estate Cottages has already received, it is hard to add much new information. However, I can confirm what other travelers have already said -- Gabriella and Douglas are wonderful hosts, the property is in a idyllic setting, the beach within easy walking distance is beautiful, and the cottages are extremely well equipped and spotlessly clean. Upon our arrival we were greeted by Gabriella and Douglas with a glass of wine, and a quick introduction to the island. Even though we had a rental car, they kindly offered to take us on a shopping excursion to the grocery store so we could get acclimated, and not have the pressure of trying to navigate through the main city of St. John on our first afternoon on the Island. The grocery, a store called Epicurean, is a very large and well stocked – as nice as any high end grocery in the US. As other visitors have mentioned, it is a real advantage to have a car to explore the island. Gabby and Douglas have an encyclopedic knowledge of all the best beaches, restaurants and sites of interest. You can easily traverse the island in a couple of hours (watch the potholes) and there are many beautiful beaches (e.g. Half Moon Bay and Tranquility Bay) and excellent restaurants ideal for a leisurely lunch (e.g. Catherine's Café and Harmony Hall). In summary, if you are looking for a very laid back week in the Islands, perfectly executed, Yepton Cottages is the place to be.
