Canoeing, sailing, good fishing, and swimming. Stroll the Camp Comfort lane and the old Route #1, enjoy the loons. So heavily wooded you will never see a neighbor. Adjacent log cabin can be rented for large groups of use of the sauna. 
 
Camp Comfort is the name of a quiet community of cottagers from Montreal, Quebec City, Sherbrooke, and Chicago. This is the Axtell's family cottage at Camp Comfort bought in 1921 by my grandmother from New York City. Telka was lured to the lake for the fishing and also probably as reminded her of the lovely rolling hills of her native Slovakia. This region also attracted several Swiss families in the 1980's. 
 
Our Scandinavian scribed cedar log cabin, perfect for couples! Small but everything you really need: shower/change room, kitchenette, hardwood floors, and queen bed. 
 
Water: Lac Alymer (200 ft of shoreline, 30 ft away from cottage) one of the largest lakes in Southern Quebec is renown for Dore (Walleye). Fed by the historic St. Francis River, on the huge Ward bay (5 x 8 km) Excellent sailing, even in September! Nearby (1 km) Coloumb river is a sanctuary for birds, otter and beaver (canoe North along the shore - pass under two bridges, turn sharp left and follow river - it's really amazing!). 
 
Water Craft: Share Canoe (flat water and white water), Laser Sailboat, 14ft row boat (fiberglass) good for up to 9 hp motor, with oars (4 life jackets). Please contact our caretaker Jean Lemay to rent a motor at 514-458-1114 or by e-mail. . Marina nearby in Beaulac for boat launch. Use all my boats at your own risk.  
 
OUTDOOR – HIKING, BIKES AND PARKS 
 
FISHING Just off the dock - excellent fishing. In fact, more fish have been cuaght from the dock than from the boat. Check for Quebec fishing regulations here. 
 
The Camp Comfort Railway Station is a 2 minute walk to our NEW (old) community hangout. You can read about the dreamers and visionaries behind the project. The whole story iis here 
 
Bike to Beaulac-Garthby about 5 minutes away. Local services you may want to check out in Beaulac. 
 
The sailing event of the year is called Le VoileD'or late August. 
 
In 20 minutes by car, you are at Parc Frontenac with some bike trails leading to some several small lakes. There are some bikes at the cottage you can use, bring your own swim suits. 
 
Usually the first week of August is the Tour Cyclist du Lac Alymer, when 500 people circle the lake in about 4 hours. 
 
In 20 minutes by car, you are at sentier pédestre des 3 monts offering trails that climb three hills and take you to some old abandoned asbestos mines. On the left as you exit Coleraine. 
 
In 25 minutes, you are at the Four Winds Equestrian Center.Contact Patrice at (819) 344-5485 
 
In 40 minutes, you are at the hiking trails of Mt. Ham-Sud This is a 4-5 hour adventure.Tél (819) 828-3608 
 
At an hour and a half drive, your will find the fabulous Astrolabe, Mont Mégantic Observatory. Late night magic!

Bathroom: Bath & hand towels, soap, heatlamp; bathtub for two, Granite double sink counter. No shower. Kitchen: Table for 8, antique wood refrigerator, freezer, stove/oven; dishwasher, toaster, Microwave, blender, kettle, 8 cup drip and a small espresso coffee machine, dishes, glassware, pots and pans, breakfast in bed trays, cutlery, dish cloths & tea towels, all necessary cooking tools and gadgets; Many spices including S&P, sugar, flour, coffee filters, dish & dishwasher soap, cleansers, etc., may be provided - use some leave some policy. Check out the condiments (mustard etc.) before going to the store; Granite counter tops.
