Vacation Rental Description

The Mill House is located in the heart of Prince Edward County, one of Ontario’s premier destinations. Come relax in the country comfort of this beautifully restored century farmhouse -- conveniently located just minutes away from the beaches of Sandbanks Provincial Park, the shops of Picton and Bloomfield, and the many wineries throughout the scenic countryside.

The Mill House has been restored to reflect its original country elegance. Maintaining much of its heritage, you will find original antiques and furnishings throughout the house. The bedrooms are large -- each has a queen size bed. There is a pull-out couch in the living room.

The Banquet Barn is only available to those renting the house. It is equipped for events with tables and chairs, china, cutlery and wine glasses; has a polished concrete floor; chandeliers, surround sound system; and 3 washrooms. Because high season (mid-June to early September) rentals take place Saturday to Saturday, summer reunions or weddings would have to take place midweek or midway through a two week rental, but arrangements can be made to rent Wednesday to Wednesday in the off season.

The grounds are nicely manicured with large lawns on all sides. There is plenty of parking. A small creek runs along one side of the property. The Beaver Meadow Conservation Area is within walking distance for hikers and bird-watchers.

The Mill House is only 5 minutes from Picton where there are 3 large grocery stores, restaurants, shops and The Regent Theatre. Prince Edward County has many fine dining choices as well as family restaurants. The area is Ontario's newest wine region and the house is central for a wine tour. The Picton Golf & Country Club is over 100 years old with a recently renovated clubhouse and 18 holes.

We do not allow pets but we recommend Paw Prints Pet Boarding kennel at 2290 County Rd 10, 613-476-1218.

Beaver Meadow conservation area with wooded trails is within walking distance from the house. Centrally located in Prince Edward County with many nice bicycling routes. The County is also a new wine region and boasts many fine restaurants. Day trips to Thousand Islands and Kingston (1 hour drive); 2 1/2 hours to Toronto, 3 hours to Ottawa or Montreal.

Come on home to the farm for a few days of stress free country living.

The Mill House was an extra house on our farm which we renovated over a seven year period. Any of the contents that were in good condition or could be restored have been left in the house. The barn renovation started in 2005. The barn was originally built using the timbers from the original mill that sat out front of the house at the road around the turn of the last century. It was a livestock barn, but this farm does not have animals. Several weddings, seasonal celebrations, and even ballroom dances have taken place since it opened summer 2006. The house is in a perfect spot for anyone wanting to browse the villages and wineries of Prince Edward, spend time at the beach, dine out or entertain. It is private but not isolated; in the country but only 5 minutes from town. We're sure you'll enjoy your stay.
