The cottage itself is an upgraded 60 year old cottage that is dry, clean and safe, boasting modern conveniences and furnishings. From the driveway, you enter the cottage into a beautiful pine panelled living room with a large field stone fireplace. Walk through the cottage towards the water and you are in a large Muskoka room with 3 walls of perimeter windows that open to screens. This room has 15 ft ceilings and a casual dining table at one end. This is where you spend your time when indoors. The master bedroom is 15 ft x 15 ft with windows and 2 sides and a lake view. This bedroom has a new queen bed and luxurious mattress. The 2nd bedroom has 2 full sets of bunk beds and sleeps 4 kids. The 3rd bedroom has a queen bed and a full set of bunks and easily sleeps a family of four. The upgraded bathroom has a sink, toilet, bath and shower. Laundry facilities are downstairs.
The large deck covers the waterside of the cottage and is accessible through the Muskoka room and the kitchen. The deck is arranged with large Muskoka sitting chairs to watch the view and a full sized picnic table for outdoor dining. From 2 stairways off the deck, there is access to a pathway to the outdoor sleeping cabin 'bunky' or a stone pathway down to the boathouse and water. The boathouse and docks are nestled into a large rock outcropping that hosts a large stone firepit. The boathouse offers a wide single boat slip and dry storage area off canoes, kayaks and windsurfers. The boathouse has full electrical power and a beverage fridge sits in the corner. The docks allow for plenty of lakeside fun and entertaining with walkout or a ladder into the water. A teak dining set with umbrella and additional lounge chairs allow for full day and evenings on the water.
The property also includes a private 40 acre woodlot that allows for adventure and hiking.
This property is 2 1/2 hour drive from Toronto International Airport and also allows fly-in service from Toronto Island Airport or Buttonville Airport. The cottage is 5 kms from the Town of Port Carling, which offers road and water access to both casual and upscale services, shops and restaurants. If you don't want to spend the day in the water, this area truly offers something for everyone. Some of Ontario's best golf courses are in this region as close as 5 kms away. Other popular activities including fishing, sailing, windsurfing, public beaches and boat tours. As an example, 1900 century large wooden steamships ply the lakes offering tours and dinner cruises.
