Vacation Rental Description
The Cliff House which is a traditional style salt-box wooden home is situated in the tiny hamlet of Dan's Hole (a hole is a tiny cove). Dan's hole is within the larger community of Ship Cove on the beautiful Port de Grave Peninsula about 1 hour from the St. John's airport. It’s quiet there. 
 
Ship Cove is where the first Newfoundland family (Abraham Daw) settled in the late 1500s having arrived from Devon, England. The Port de Grave harbour is quite colourful with many brightly painted long liners (fishing boats) which come and go in front of the Cliff House. 
The house rents for $775/week + HST (tax). 
 
The Cliff House has water on 3 sides (yes whales) and overlooks Conception Bay. The setting is very pretty. The house is very simple with all the basics; hot water, small bathroom w/tub, fridge, stove, all cooking utensils, towels and linen. The house is equipped with a few small heaters for any cool days. 
 
All your shopping needs are in Bay Roberts, a 15 minute drive off the peninsula. There is great hiking from the house over the hills which lead to other hamlets overlooking the sea.

    • The Cliff House is without technology and telephone. We use our mobile. There are some fine hikes and walks from the front door. The Port de Grave Harbour which is a 15 minute walk is one of the prettiest harbours in Newfoundland where colourful long-liners (fishing boats) can be seen unloading fish, crab, and shrimp. There are a number of scenic drives at various distances from Port de Grave. Some of our guests prefer to relax on the deck overlooking the cove below while others use the Cliff House as a base to visit St. John's, Cape St. Mary's Bird Sanctuary and historical sites nearby.     		  Low Season Price: $800 per Week
      High Season Price: $800 per Week
         

    The Cliff House rents by the week (only) for $775.00 + 13%HST (tax) Booking is confirmed with a $150 deposit, non-refundable. The balance is payable 6-weeks prior to your arrival date. As our guests generally book some months in advance our cancellation policy allows the return of your payment balance (+ security deposit) if you decide to cancel no later than 4 weeks prior to your arrival. A refundable $300 security deposit is required with your payment balance. The deposit will be returned within 10 days after you leave. Payments can be made through bank draft or through bank transfer + any bank service charges.
