1 Bedroom Guest House in Courtenay

Blueberry Ridge Guesthouse, a newly built carriage house on a quiet acreage, is a one-bedroom, self-catered and private vacation getaway. 
 
We are located on central Vancouver Island, nestled in the northern end of the Comox Valley in the rural area of Merville. Merville gets its name from Merville, France, where Canadian soldiers were headquartered during the First World War. Immediately following WWI, some of those same soldiers became the first inhabitants of Merville, BC. 
 
We offer a full kitchen ideal for preparing fresh BC salmon or halibut caught on one of the island’s famous guided fishing trips. After dinner, curl up by the warm and inviting gas fireplace with a glass of wine from the region. Vancouver Island is known for its many famous wineries, with the closest one to us being Beaufort Vineyards in Courtenay, only minutes from here. Or, sit out on the deck and enjoy the quiet solitude this property has to offer.

I came searching for restoration, beauty and peace. Even though I had a pressing work project for the weeks I was here, the tranquility was luxurious and exactly what I needed to focus and relax. Blueberry Ridge Guesthouse is conveniently close to beautiful beaches and a town with all amenities plus truly excellent dining venues. There are also miles of walking/running paths through the forest! Hilary and Steve and family are special, warm hosts who immediately make you feel welcome, and they keep the home immaculate. I so appreciated the generous attention to decorating detail and consider this guesthouse to be a model of rustic luxurious elegance.

We enjoyed staying here so much that we extended our stay, and we would recommend without hesitation that other vacationers or short-term renters look into staying here. It’s in a beautiful and quiet spot and the suite itself is great, with all the comforts of home. Great bed, bathroom, kitchen and living room – and it’s set up to enjoy movies or a cozy fire in the river rock fireplace! We took advantage of some nice weather by drinking coffee and playing games on the spacious balcony. There are many trails for walking or biking, and the beaches and mountains aren’t far away – whatever the season, there is lots to do! We definitely hope to return soon for another visit. Thanks for having us!

We have satellite tv available for the winter and spring months. We provide a dvd library for the other months. We have wireless internet. Laundry facilities are available for long-term stays. There is plenty of off road parking. Pets are welcome upon approval. We have an extra mattress for a third person and can also provide a playpen and high chair. We have a large covered deck where you can sit and enjoy the solitude of our property.

We have many farm markets in the vicinity where you can buy local produce as well as baked goods. Courtenay is only 15 minutes away and you will find numerous top-notch restaurants and fantastic shopping. Mt.Washington is a 25 minute drive away. It is a full ski resort which offers hiking and biking in the summer/early fall. Beaches are a 5-10 minute drive away and golfing is only 5. Campbell River, a 30 minute drive from here, offers first rate salmon fishing charters.
