Vacation Rental Description
First opened for camping in May 2005, The Golden Eco-Adventure Ranch is a 400 acre riverside property with room to roam and great views of the surrounding Rocky Mountains. It is an ideal base from which to pursue any number of Rocky Mountain tourism and/or adventure activities.
What makes us unique?
Well, for starters our facility is large and spacious - over 400 acres of open meadows, native forest and wetland areas. This means that you won't feel like you are camping in a cramped and crowded sub-division. Also in 2007 we added a unique camping experience with our yurts. The addition of yurts and the Events Pavilion is representative of our continuous commitment to making the camping experience at our facility as complete and special as possible.
Just a short distance south of the town of Golden British Columbia, The Golden Eco-Adventure Ranch is situated on an old farming site in the small community of Nicholson. It borders on the banks of the Columbia River just 150 kilometers downstream from the source of this internationally important water resource and historic travel route between Canada and the west coast of the United States.
Our camping facilities handle all types of camping from walk-in tenting to 30 and 50 amp servicing for large RVs and trailers. We have back-in and pull-through sites.
All the latest camping amenities are available including on-site lockers for traveling adventurers using our campground as a base for extended explorations of the Columbia Valley wetlands and the surrounding Rocky Mountains.
Traveling by car, Golden is approximately 4 hours west of Calgary International Airport.
The Golden Eco-Adventure Ranch is 5 kilometers south of Golden on Highway 95. It is located in the small community of Nicholson on the west side of the Columbia River. Find the Ranch immediately on the right after crossing the Columbia River by way of the Nicholson Bridge.
The Ranch is at the western foot of Mount 7 which is a renowned Paragliding and Hang Gliding site complete with a drive up launch site known as "The Lookout".
More recently Mount 7 has also become a mountain biker's dream with several kilometers of downhill trails which are accessed from the Lookout road. Nearby is the spectacular Kicking Horse Mountain Resort with superior skiing in winter and and a gondola operation and special grizzly bear sanctuary in summer. Several Rafting companies operate on the Columbia and the Kicking Horse Rivers over the summer season.
Camping facilities at the Golden Eco-Adventure Ranch include everything necessary to make your stay comfortable, convenient and fun. There are first class support buildings accessible to RVers and Tent Campers. Most of all, we've got the space and peace and quiet that is often in such short supply at many mountain campgrounds during the high season.
The Golden Eco-Adventure Ranch is 400 acres of camping paradise. There are open fields and treed campsites as well as outstanding Rocky Mountain views. The famous Columbia River runs right by the property. A paragliding and hang gliding flight park forms the southern boundary of the property. The northern boundary of the property includes a broad band of forested area and an even larger portion of natural wet lands that feature two ox bow lakes - a prime bird sanctuary.
Book our purpose-built, Events Pavilion.
