Bombora Blue is a modern beach-house located in the friendly town of Old Bar. Old Bar itself is three hours from Sydney, an hour from Newcastle airport, and ten minutes from Taree.

The town is bordered by the Pacific Ocean, the Manning River estuary, and Khappinghat National Park. There is an abundance of natural beauty whichever way you turn.

The house itself is just 30 metres across a reserve from the beautiful surf beach of Old Bar, and adjacent to the only patrolled section of the beach. It’s an unspoiled, endlessly long beach (up to 25kms, depending on the tide), which is un-crowded and perfect for sunbathing, swimming, fossicking or picnicking.

From the deck you’ll often be able to watch dolphins at play, and whales can be spotted most days during the twice yearly migration seasons.

Bombora Blue is a haven of relaxed, elegant beachside living. It can sleep eight people comfortably, but just as easily provide a cosy retreat for two. See also www.bomborablue.com.au

The beach has many things to offer. If you’re feeling active, the surf is great. The surf club is just opposite the house, offering the only patrolled section of the beach. You can stroll along the sands, perhaps as far as Manning Point which is 13km away, or maybe do a spot of fossicking for shells and stones nearer the house. Alternatively, you might simply like to find a favourite spot for sitting and contemplating. In addition you can, tides permitting, go for a drive along the beach, and you might even feel like stopping en route to catch your own fish supper. If you’re interested in birdlife, there is a reserve on the beach about 10 minutes walk to the north, which protects the nesting sites of the Little Tern. There is a great deal of migratory and wading bird life locally, with over 90 species recorded. There are also, of course, the dolphins and the whales which are often to be seen from the beach or the deck of the house.

You can just relax or you can be busy – it’s up to you. There is swimming, surfing, tennis, bowling, micro-light flying, canoeing, walking, bird-watching, to name just some of the local activities.

Alternatively you might like to laze around with a book, watch a film in the theatre room, cook up a storm in the kitchen, have a BBQ or enjoy a glass of something as the moon rises over the ocean.
