Edakkad Beach House is set in a village in North Kerala on a small peninsular by the Arabian Sea.
The nearest road is a few minutes walk along a jungle path, through coconut groves, passing village houses along the way. The neighbours greet you with friendly smiles and the kids shout “hi” and giggle.

Edakkad Beach House is simplicity with comfort and outside of the house village life goes on.
Fishermen go down to the sea each day to fish and dive for crabs. Coconuts are harvested and ladies beat their washing on the rocks.
To one side of the peninsular a small river flows. At low tide it is possible to walk through the river to the Drive-in-Beach of Muzhapilangad. This is a four kilometer virgin beach where it is possible to drive the whole length, skimming the waves.
A beach jeep is available for shopping in the town and for driving on the beach.

Edakkad Beach House is a beautiful place to be.
The house has three double bedrooms with European style en-suite bathrooms.
Guest rooms have twin beds (or a double bed if preferred).
There are bunk beds in the largest room for extra guests.

There are sea views from each of the guest rooms.
When it gets dark it is really dark and the stars are so beautiful and clear.

There is an ayurveda room and a roof terrace overlooking the Arabian Sea.
Yoga is available on the roof terrace or on the beach. (Request at the time of booking.)

There is a large inner hall, a dining area and a large kitchen where staff will cook for you - but you are also welcome in the kitchen!

The Drive-in-Beach is great fun. Beach jeep available - skim the waves for four kilometres.

Visit the snake farm where anti-venoms are made.
Visit the hills and tea plantations.
Tours can be arranged to suit requirements - discuss final arrangements with staff on arrival.

Edakkad Beach House has an ayurveda room exclusively for guests at the house. Standard ayurvedic treatments are available from qualified ayurveda staff. Treatments mainly consist of massage with special herbal oils and are given for stress relief, relaxation, rejuvenation, pampering and to alleviate aches and pains.
Ayurveda for serious illness should be taken at an ayurveda hospital.

The beach house has a large library of talking books on tape and cd and a large library of film on dvd.
It is recommended that a personal dvd player is taken to the house if you like to relax with a film.
There is no tv.
Ceiling fans and an air cooler are available for added comfort.

The village kids love to play cricket and they love guests to join in.

The rupee rate fluctuates. April 2009 it is around 75 rupees to £1. High Season December, January, February Rupees 2500 (house per night)- first person. Each additional person Rs500. Rs2500 is approx. £35 Low Season March, April, May, October, November Rupees 1800 (house per night) - first person. Each additional person Rs400. Monsoon rains possible June, July, August, September Rupees 800 (house per night) - first person. Each additional person Rs200. A 20% deposit is required on booking. Full payment required one month prior to departure. Help is available with arranging flights. Nearest airport is Calicut (sometimes called Kozhikode). It is also possible to fly into Goa for a couple of days and then take the overnight sleeper train south to North Kerala - Kannur station which is twenty minutes drive from the beach house.
