Shiraz Cottage is a luxury 4 star yet affordable 3 bedroomed, 3 bathroomed fully furnished vacation rental home in the delightful village of Franschhoek, nestling in a valley in the Western Cape region of South Africa.

Available for weekends, or several days, or longer, and only 45 minutes' drive from Cape Town airport, Shiraz Cottage is on a very quiet sidestreet in the village of Franschhoek and offers guests an oasis of tranquility, gastronomic delights, miles of vineyards for tasting some of the best wines in the world, all set in a stunning village with breathtaking scenery for miles around.

a) the 2 double bedroomed house for up to 4 people
b) the 1 double bedroomed apartment for up to 2 people, or
c) the whole cottage for up to 6 people.

Beautifully furnished in French Country style, made sparkling clean and fresh ready for your arrival - and equipped to high standards, Shiraz Cottage has been awarded 4 star status by the Tourism Grading Council of South Africa. Outside you have the lovely garden with pool, patio area shaded by vines, and a barbeque for evenings in.

Shiraz Cottage is located in a quiet road only 10 minutes' walk to the bustling village centre with its boutique shops and world class, award-winning restaurants, but it is well away from town traffic, so you get the best of both worlds. It is within walking distance of two of the finest vineyards with exquisite food - Chamonix and Dieu Donnè which has in our view - the best and most beautiful mountainside restaurant in the valley.

The cottage is managed for us by a local couple who will get everything ready for your stay. The gardener comes weekly and the pool is cleaned weekly, it also has a self clean system. The cottage has an alarm, and off road parking for both the house and apartment. There is 20+ channel DSTV in the house, and both the house and apartment have a DVD player. Both have washing machines. Telephone and fax machines available for long term stays. The house does not have permanent internet as we have found that hiring USB packs at the airport is easy. However there is an internet cafe in the village if needed.

The pool is uncovered so please bear in mind that adults are responsible for ensuring the safety and supervision of children at all times and bookings are made on the explicit understanding that there is an uncovered pool in the garden. The owners and their agents cannot accept responsibility for the care of guests or their children in and around the pool area.

Air conditioning is available in the master bedroom of the main house, and fans are supplied for all other rooms. Fresh linen is there ready for your arrival, including crisp white sheets, towels and pool towels. For guests staying for a week, linen is changed each week. There is a laundry service should you wish to send your laundry out - our managing agent can give you prices.

Please note - there is no pool cover. Prices are per night based on rate of 1 ZAR to 0.0776 GBP (£) at 4 July 2009. Rates include VAT. Prices subject to change at our discretion.

50% of rental payable in advance, via direct bank transfer (to UK, German or South Africa banks). We accept Sterling, Euros or Rand. Credit card bookings possible (pls ask us for details - there is a fee of 3 -5% of the total, depending on card). The balance payable 30 days before arrival, in same currency as at time of booking.

Guests are required to sign a contract for the rental prior to the booking being confirmed. A keys/ breakages/damages deposit of R3,000 (house) or R1,000 (apartment) will be requested by our agent on arrival, refundable on departure, less any charges.

Bookings are subject to a minimum of 2 nights, 3 over peak periods such as xmas, New Year and Easter.
