2 Bedroom Riad in Marrakech

Dar Sana is a small magical riad well-situated in the medina or old town of Marrakech. It is at the end of a quiet derb in a part of Marrakech which offers easy walking access both to the square and tourist attractions of the old town and to the new town (which has many large modern shops) and attractions such as the delightful Majorelle gardens. It is rented out as a whole property and provides extensive living and relaxing space for your sole use. It has been renovated by the owners to a high standard with the assistance of an experienced interior designer. Ground floor area consists of kitchen, utility room, guest toilet, sitting room and dining room, situated around a large patio area with many plants and a fountain.There is are open fireplaces in both rooms. The two en-suite bedrooms are on the first floor, alongwith a large summer sitting area with an open fireplace which overlooks the patio. The bedrooms each have a double bed and air-conditioning. Bathrooms have shower areas in a traditional tadelakh finish. The open terrace area at the top of the house has dining and sitting areas and a view of the local mosque. There is an extensive selection of potted plants on the terrace. 
 
We employ a housekeeper (Hakima) who has been with us for three years and who is available throughout the day. Hakima speaks French, Aarabic and good English and prepares breakfast (included). She will also provide additional meals if required at extra cost. 
 
We have an English manager to the property based in Marrakech who will welcome you to the property and provide advice and assistance as required (eg recommending restaurants, organising excursions).  
 
There are three resident tortoises which are family pets and loved by all !! 
 
The owners visit the property regularly - and love their second home as much as they love Marrakech. 
 
Bab Doukkala is a particularly pleasant and safe area of the old town of Marrakech. Just around the corner from Dar Sana there is a traditional shopping/market street. The property itself is situated at the end of a quiet derb just opposite the main mosque of the area (Grande Mosque of Bab Doukkala). Taxis are usually available from the top of the derb (about 100 yards from the front door of the house). The local bus station is a ten-minute walk away. The house is therefore easily accessible by taxi and public transport. The aiport if about three miles from the centre of Marrakech (transfers are around 150 dirhams or £12 sterling).  
 
The house is well placed for visiting all of the main areas of interest in the old town of Marrakech. The souks are about ten minutes walk away and the principal square around fifteen minutes walk.  
 
Guests who have stayed at our house have universally commented on excellence of the property and the friendliness and efficiency of the housekeeper. They have also noted that Dar Sana provides a haven of peace and quiet in an otherwise busy city.

The house is a traditional riad: during the cooler seasons a removable cover is employed over the patio area which ensures warmth and cosiness during winter. All bed linen is provided. Although this is rented as a whole property breakfasts are included in the price, and a full service (cleaning, beds made, coffees etc) is provided during the day. Other meals can be provided at additional cost.

Marrakech has several golf courses. There is a tennis club in the new town. The Atlas mountains are around 45 minutes from the city and provide opportunities for hiking and climbing. There are several water-based theme parks in Marrakech.
