4 Bedroom Self Catering Villa in Vipingo

This fabulous, family orientated, Kenya Coast house is located halfway between Mombasa and Kilifi, an hour’s drive from Mombasa airport. Vipingo is very unspoilt and enjoys warm, crystal-clear sea, lovely sandy beaches, rock pools and coral outcrops to explore. Vipingo is very quiet and is far away from the hussle and bussle of the busy hotels and resorts of Mombasa and is an ideal spot for a totally relaxing holiday in Kenya. 
 
Makuti House is a spacious and airy double story house and there are four double bedrooms all opening onto a wide upstairs balcony, which overlooks the ocean. Three have double beds and one has bunk beds. We have an extra single bed, a cot and an additional sofa bed (plus a couple of hammocks on the balcony) so the house can easily take 10 people. The house is always cool as has an elevated position so always gets the refreshing sea-breezes. 
 
Downstairs a single large living space combines dining and living room and is decorated in traditional Swahili style, with lots of large comfy sofas and chairs. This opens onto a wide balcony with views straight to the ocean. There is an outside dining table on the verandah which is perfect for breakfasts and lunches. We have a separate TV room with a DVD (for British PAL DVDs). There is a DSTv satellite connection – Kenya residents who have a de-coder simply have to bring it along to access all the normal channels.  
 
We have a resident cook who will prepare fresh meals for you. The fishermen often come to the house with the catch of the day and fresh prawns and sea-food may be ordered from Kilifi. We also provide a housekeeper and gardener so that all you will need to do is relax as all the hard work is taken care of. The house is within an Estate that has an electric security fence all round so this makes it very secure. 
 
Our pool has a bar at the shallow end and great views out to sea. Access to the coral beach below is by a 12 foot ladder - kids love splashing about in the rock pools at low tide and very often you can see turtles swimming in the waves at high tide. There is access to a year-round sandy beach, which has crystal clear water, 700 yards from the house. The gardener can arrange trips in a local fishing boat and snorkelling gear can be borrowed at the house. There is a marine conservation area next door and you can arrange snorkelling trips there and they will even come and pick you up in the boat at high tide. Vipingo Ridge Golf Course is right on the door-step so golfers may pay the daily rate to play Kenya’s premier course. 
 
The large downstairs space plus the balcony space means the house could be used for retreats for up to 10 people. We can arrange to book another house on the estate if additional accommodation is needed.  
 

We provide all linen, towels and mosquito nets. The fully equipped kitchen has the basics such as tea, sugar, salt and spices. We also provide loo rolls and soap for you but please bring everything else that you will need to cook with. We can organise car hire and taxis for you if you wish. Vipingo is about 20 mins from the closest supermarkets is Nyali or Kilifi. The house comes with a generator which is switched on if there are any powercuts. Our Manager lives on-site and can be contacted if needs be or if you need any help or information or ideas of things to do and places to visit during your stay in Vipingo.

Vipingo Ridge, an international standard golf course, is 10 minutes drive away www.vipingoridge.co.ke and in Nyali is another fine golf course. www.nyaligolf.co.ke You can also hire mountain bikes and go horse riding at Vipingo Ridge. 
 
There is safe swimming and snorkelling off the beach in the Estate and a fantastic marine conservation area next door. The beaches are protected by a coral reef so are safe all the year round. There is a local turtle conservation project, run by our manager, so she can tell you of any baby turtle hatchings. 
 
We also have loads of children’s toys and games and there are two adult mountain bikes and two kids’ bikes that guests can use. We have tennis racquets to borrow. 
 
Windsurfing, kitesurfing, scuba diving and sailing from the Nyali hotels 30 minutes towards Mombasa. Kilifi also offers lots of watersports and dhow trips. Watamu and Malindi are good for Deep Sea Fishing expeditions.
