St. Pete Beach, Florida, USA is nestled between the Gulf of Mexico and Boca Ciega Bay. It is the southern most island of the Tampa Bay barrier islands. It is a haven for sports fishermen, golfers, boaters and sun lovers.
The southern most tip of St. Pete Beach, Pass-A-Grille, is the historic district. Settled first by Weeden Indians many centuries ago, it was then visited by sailors from England, Spain, France, and Cuba to rest, restore the fresh water supplies, and catch and smoke fresh fish for the return journey to their homeland. Many stories are told of pirates who would visit the island for the same reasons.
Pass-A-Grille was first settled in 1886 by Captain Zephania Phillips. George Lizotte, a Thomas Cook tour guide, visited the island and opened the first hotel in Pass-A-Grille in the late 1800's. Many of the original homes still exist. Historic walking tours are presented by the Gulf Beaches Historical Museum.
St. Pete Beach has white powder sand, blue skies, gentle breezes, and warm sun. The fishing is great. Snorkeling is delightful. One can spend weeks here and never leave the island. Children play in our parks, families can take advantage of bike or scooter rentals or the movie theater. Shopping is an adventure in our many eclectic shops. The restaurant cuisine ranges from casual to fine dining. French, German, Italian, Greek, South American, and Mexican restaurants, along with fresh seafood and American eateries line the main boulevard. Day outings may be arranged easily for deep sea fishing excursions, snorkel trips, dolphin watching, and sailing. There are water sport rentals from several hotels along the beach.
A picture perfect place for a wedding, anniversary, family reunion or just quality family time.
We invite you to come stroll our beach, sail our tranquil waters and have a sunset cocktail with the locals. Most businesses on St. Pete Beach are family owned and operated. It's just a little village surrounded by calm, gentle seas.
You never know whom you will pass on the beach. We have had Presidents and cinema stars enjoy our paradise in the past, present and someone will be here tomorrow or the next day. It is always a surprise.
Come and enjoy life with us. Learn to live on island time. You won't want to leave.
