About Almoradi:

Almoradi is located on the northern side of the Segura River, on the southern Costa Blanca, & is approximately 15 minutes drive from the coastal town Guardamar. It is also with in a short drive of neighbouring towns Catral, Dolores and torrevieja.

Almoradi is well situated for access from the AP7 motorway and that also makes getting to Alicante and Murcia airports easy, with both airports being approximately a thirty minute drive away and serviced by low cost airlines (Ryanair, Thompsonfly, Easyjet, Monarch and Jet2)

In recent times there has been increased interest in the town. This has mainly come from residential tourists who are attracted by the relatively low prices (for the region), or ex-pats looking for a taste of real Spain. It has to be said Almoradi does offer something a little different from that of many of coastal towns; it is quieter, & has retained much of its inherent culture & tradition, unlike the coastal resorts that become ghost towns out of holiday season, Almoradi stays vibrant and alive all year round. The town is renowned for its Fiestas, the main Christian & Moors one held late July, early August. Many other Parades and Festivals being held throughout the year, Easter and Christmas particularly spectacular.

Sporting enthusiasts are still well catered for here, with the town boasting a good municipal swimming pool & other facilities. Almoradi is no more than a 20 minute drive from a good selection of golf courses; with La Finca & la Marquesa clubs significantly closer. There is also a new golf club being built in Dolores, which will bring even more prosperity to the area.

The town is a bustling little place with supermarkets, shops, medical centre, banks, inexpensive restaurants and a good selection of cafe/bars. It is a traditional Spanish town with a number of British residents and cafe bars. The cuisine caters for various tastes. There are the Spanish bars with tapas and British, Italian, Indian and Chinese restaurants all with reasonable prices.

The main focal point of the town is the square with 2 open air bars, a children`s play area and an ice cream parlour shaded by large ornamental trees. On Saturdays it is surrounded by a large open air market where almost anything can be bought. There are no fewer than 8 park/play areas for children with eating/drinking areas.

There is a new Bowling Alley (5 lanes) and a small zoo in the town. There is also an outdoor public swimming pool.

Almoradi boasts a thriving, bustling traditional market every Saturday morning. If that's not enough for you, you will also find Dolores holds a market every Friday morning and Catral holds one every Saturday morning .

Almoradi is also well known for its mild climate & the entire region enjoys sunshine for in excess of 320 days per year. The sun is at its hottest during the summer months, with temperatures rarely falling below 30°C (86°F). Winters are typically very mild with averages hovering around 18°C (64°F).
