Vendee is located in the Pays De La Loire in west central France, and its coast stretches along 200km of sandy beaches which makes many tourists flock here especially the resorts Les Sables-d'Olonne, La Tranche-sur-mer and Saint-Jean-De-Monts.
Another main attraction in Vendee is the Marais Poitevin, a large area of marshland where tourist can boat in traditional boats. The Marais Poitevin is nicked named the Green Venice as the myriad canals are covered in green duckweed and other types of fauna. In the heart of Vendee one can also explore the Pay du Fou which translates as "The podium of insanity" which is a historical theme park that re-enacts battle scenes in traditional settings from Gladiators Chariot racing in a replica Amphitheatre to Vikings in a Longboat and much more.

For nature lovers there are thousands of marked footpaths, sign-posted bicycle routes that journey along the coastal mudflats and marshes that attract unusual birds. Fishing is also popular in Vendee with good locations found both inland at the rivers and lakes, and further a field in the ocean.
