The island of Falster... the perfect little relaxation spot in southern Denmark. With a private villa on the Island of Falster, fill your vacation with countryside walks, sunbathing on the beach, and exploring the historic sites of the local towns and cities.
One of the most popular places to visit in Falster is the town of Marielyst, which features Denmark's longest beach. A perfect spot for the whole family, Marielyst's beaches feature gorgeous white sand, small dunes and wonderful clear water making it perfect for sunbathing, swimming, and long walks by the Baltic Sea. It's even possible to find amber by the coast of Falster! Behind the beaches are lush pine forests, which make the perfect surroundings for long walks through nature. Inside the forests you can find bird sanctuaries, letting you see the beautiful creatures that live in the area, as well as lakes and green meadows - all of which make picturesque places to spend your holiday!
Just outside the town there's plenty of activities for the family to do. Go-karting, bowling alleys, a golf course and a riding centre are just some of the places to keep you entertained. If you're a fishing fan there's several places on Falster that will please you. There's several fish ponds in the area, full of Put and Take, and you could even take a boat out from the town of Onsevig for some deep sea fishing!
With a self-catering villa in the Island of Falster, you can also visit the several other places across the island and in the adjoining island of Lolland. 'Det Sorte Museum' (the black museum) is full of the rocks, minerals, amber and fossils that can be found on Falster. Middelaldercentret is an open-air village museum, a replica of an authentic working 12 century village. The Knuthenborg Safari Park in Maribo lets you see animals such as zebras, Siberian tigers, giraffes, rhinos, and ostriches, up close.
Other parts of Denmark that you might find interesting to visit is the island of Bornholm. With a private bungalow on Bornholm Island you can go out and see the "Pearl of the Baltic", with it's beaches, forests and local crafts. There's also the coastal town of Blaavand where you can find a self-catering cottage and see the town's beaches, lighthouse and golf course!
