When you come to Belgium, you really must sample some of the world-famous Belgian chocolate. Brussels is the ultimate place for chocolate lovers, with it's shops selling some of the best chocolate in the world. Another famous Brussels product is it's beer, and the city has several breweries with several different beers to discover. With over 1000 restaurants, Brussels is ideal for a self catering holiday. Try some of the traditional Belgian food such as mussels (moules), fries (frites) and of course chocolate. If you're feeling adventurous you might even try anguilles au vert/paling in't groen (river eels in green sauce) or stoemp (mashed vegetables and potatoes). Of course the best choice for pudding is a classic Belgian waffle!

Just north of Brussels is the city of Antwerp.
