When in Finland, be sure to visit the capital of Helsinki. A city filled with culture and history, Helsinki makes a great place to spend a European holiday. Famed for it's architecture, Helsinki features great examples of both neo-classical buildings, such as the Government Palace and the impressive Helsinki Cathedral, as well as many Art Nouveau buildings as seen in the neighborhood of Katajanokka. Helsinki is home to the National Museum of Finland, in which displays a large range of interesting artifacts dating from prehistoric periods to modern times. There's also the Helsinki City Museum which tells the 500 year history of the city. Helsinki is also home to many theaters, concert halls and art galleries, as well as holding the annual Helsinki festival of culture and arts. The Helsinki Olympic Stadium built for the 1952 Olympic games hosts both concerts and the city's many sporting events.
