About Geroskipou:
resort map Geroskipou is the oldest village in Paphos and oozes charm and history. The village lies only 5 minutes from the airport on the road into Paphos town.

Geroskipou square with its bars, tavernas and shops is also a tourist attraction in itself for its beautiful old church; the remarkable five-domed Byzantine church of Agia Paraskevi and as the birthplace of Cypriot Delights (known as Turkish Delight in the UK). The village also hosts the Museum of folk art, which is well worth a visit. According to tradition Geroskipou is the place where Aphrodite had her gardens, thus the name yeros meaning holy and kipou meaning garden give the village it’s name; Holy Gardens.

Geroskipou beach and Paphos municipal beach can be reached by a short 30 minute walk down quiet country lanes or in a few minute by car. Car parking is free. The blue flag, municipal sandy beach is large with loungers and parasols to rent at a small charge. A brand new beach bar has just been erected selling drinks and snacks. This beach is ideal for the young family with very shallow water protected by a rocky breakwater. It also boasts beach side bars, amusements, beach volleyball courts and water sports.

There are 3 golf courses within 15 minutes of the village. Aphrodite Hills is the most recent development and is a challenging championship golf course set on the coastal cliffs above Aphrodite’s rock. Tsada golf course and Secret Valley golf course are two excellent golf courses to test golfers of all abilities. In Summer 2009 a new golf course to rival Aphrodite Hills will be opening in Geroskipou itself.

Skiing is available in the Troodos Mountains in the winter months from early January to late March on the 6,400ft Mount Olympus. Within 40 minutes you can be sunbathing by the pool again! For information on booking a skiing trip and the condition of the slopes click on skicyprus.com.

The harbour and Paphos main tourist area for shops and restaurants is 10 minutes by car. Aphrodite’s Rock is 15 mins by car and Aphrodite’s Baths is 30 mins by car.
