An amazing city with a beautiful history, and a look into the Chinese culture - come to Beijing, find a great self catering apartment, and discover all China has to offer.
A fantastic mix of modern city and ancient culture, a private apartment in Beijing is a fantastic way for you to see China at it's best. At the center of the city is the world famous Tian'anmen Square, with the 15th Century Tiananmen Gate. The largest city square in the world, Tiananmen Square is now world famous for the protest held there in 1989; but while it was an important historical event there is much more to the square than that. To the west of the square lies the Great Hall of the People, the People's Republic of China's parliament building, and to the north is the Tiananmen Tower. Past the tower and through the Tiananmen Gate (or the Gate of Heavenly Peace) lies the Forbidden City. The home of 24 Emperors over the centuries, the Forbidden City is now considered to be the best preserved imperial palace in China, and is recognized as one of the five most important places in the world. With guided tours of the cities starting regularly, the Forbidden City offers some amazing ancient Chinese buildings including the three main buildings: the Hall of Supreme Harmony, the Hall of Preserving Harmony and the Hall of Central Harmony; where you can see the Emperor's Dragon Throne and banquet halls.
You're also only a short bus trip away from the Great Wall of China, which of course is an amazing tourist destination. No trip to China would be complete without seeing the Great Wall!
Of course there are some more modern sights in Beijing for you to enjoy as well. The National Stadium, built in 2008 for the Olympic games, is now a major tourist attraction. Designed as the perfect way to enjoy sports, a visit to the stadium is well worth a visit whether you're interested in sports, or even architecture! There's even a Ski Resort open in the winter! Another sight to see is the National Aquatics Center, also known as the 'Water Cube'. Also built for the Olympics in 2008, the National Aquatics Center is now a great place to go swimming, relax in it's spa, and learn more about the Olympic water events that took place there. You can also get something to eat in one of it's many water-themed restaurants and bars.
When you're in Beijing, take the opportunity to see what else China has to offer. Climb up the stunning skyscrapers in the city of Shanghai, which features some of the tallest buildings in the world - all with observation decks for you to see the stunning views. You could even have a meal at the revolving restaurant at the Oriental Pearl Tower, with a privately owned apartment in Shanghai.
