Cabo San Lucas is situated at the tip of the Baja where the famous Land's End and Arch extend out into the Pacific Ocean. To reach San Jose del Cabo is an easy 35 km. ride along the corridor - a stretch of coastline bordering the Sea of Cortez and home to many of the large resorts and golf courses. The airport is a further 19 km from San Jose. Situated along the marina are many fine restaurants but to live and feel the local flavour it is worthwhile to visit restaurants off the main thoroughfare. La Fonda and La Mar y pena are two very worthwhile restaurants to try. To watch the whales it is adviseable to stay on the Pacific side of Cabo San Lucas where you can see the whales migrating down to the Sea of Cortez in early January and returning to Alaska in March. Often the whales come within 100 yards of the beaches where they play and teach their young.
