A parish on the mountain. Santo António da Serra is the only civil parish on Madeira island that is divided into two: one belonging to the Santa Cruz municipality and the other to Machico. Truth be told, Santo António da Serra is a very pleasant place, with countless trees and beautiful villages and farms. From Funchal, take the freeway in the direction of Aeroporto (Airport). Take the Santo da Serra turnoff. Then, go all the way up until you get to Santo da Serra, which although it has been geographically separated, it should be visited as a single unit. You can also get there via Camacha, Portela or even by coming down from Poiso.
