A region of historic towns, castles and manors, with majestic highlands and lowlands, there's always something to do or see with a vacation in East Bohemia. Places Český ráj, or 'Bohemian Paradise', offer a great deal of things to do, such as hiking and bike routes, and exploration of the ruins of Trosky Castle and the sandstone “rock town”. East Bohemia also has the Krkonoše, the highest of the Czech mountains, on which lies the Harrachov glassworks, which dates back to 1712. Harrachov is also a great place for winter sports, with it's popular ski-jumping hills, and many downhill and cross-country skiing areas. There's even a reconstructed Neo-renaissance castle and the Krkonoše Museum.

If you like mountain climbing, a private farmhouse in East Bohemia lets you visit the small town of Teplice nad Metují, through which you can find the Teplické Rocks, which hosts an annual Festival of Mountain Climbing films, as founded by the famous climber Marek Šmíd.

The Škoda-Volkswagen company is located in East Bohemia, specifically the town of Mladá Boleslav. As well as housing the Škoda-Volkswagen factory, there is the Museum of Škoda Auto where you can learn about the history of Škoda manufacturing.

Near to Mladá Boleslav is the well preserved Czech Gothic castle of Kost, almost invisible hidden in the valley of Český Ráj. There are tours of the castle where you can learn about the Renaissance history of the castle, as well as collections from the Kinský dynasty. There's also fencing tournaments in the summer months.
