About Oroklini:

resort map Oroklini is a coastal area 7 or 8 kilometres north of Larnaca town in the southern (Greek) part of Cyprus. The coastal 'strip' is home to a number of good hotels as well as souvenir shops, restaurants, minimarkets, etc.and, of course, a good sandy beach with all the usual water sports.

Oroklini village is to be found 5 minutes drive inland and close to the motorway which gives easy access to Ayia Napa, Protaras and Nicosia and which is the main route to Larnaca International Airport only 20 minutes drive away.

The village has grown quite rapidly over the past few years but despite the new developments on the outskirts the centre of the village retains its original character and charm with houses built of mud bricks with their old louvred windows and gardens filled with bougainvilea, jasmine, lemon trees and grape vines.

The terrain rises gradually as you walk up through the main street of the village and the buildings suddenly end as the land rises sharply into a high peak which forms a picturesque backdrop to the village. A road leads up to the summit where there is a picnic area and a chance to relax for those who decide to walk it! Nearby are a horse riding centre and a go-karting facility.

At the top end of the village there is a Byzantine church and several good tavernas offering traditional Cypriot cuisine. Further down the main street you will find a well stocked supermarket, banks, a pharmacy and medical centre, ice cream parlour, computer shop with internet access, a take-away serving Cypriot food, a pizzaria and a DVD rental shop. There are also a few traditional and modern, but quiet, bars where you can spend a relaxing evening.

Following the road back towards the coast and only ten minutes walk from the village centre are two of the most popular shops in the village - the bakeries!! These are definitely not on the weight-watchers list of places to visit. They are stocked with all kinds of local bread, pies, pastries, cakes, sweets, deserts, etc - and they are open to well after midnight.

A regular bus services runs from the village centre to Larnaca town - a journey of approximately 20 minutes.

Overall this is a lovely village, a good central point for touring around to see other sights on the island but equally it has everything you need just to stay in one place and completely relax. The choice is yours.
