The valley of a thousand palms, the village where the local people plant a new palm tree for every child born in the village, welcome to Haria, also known as the capital of Lanzarote.

A very beautiful village with much to see - including the fascinating architecture which has been a big influence for many of the artists of the area.

Although it's quite a quiet village it has a lot of history, including the time when it was burnt down by pirates and completely destroyed. But this did not stop the local people from re-building it again, and making the village even more amazing. This lead them to make the centre square the main village square where they would keep all the shops and restaurants and hold a local market with local foods and crafts from the artists. This is such a big bonus if you wanted to take home some souvenirs, you wouldn't have to travel all over the place to try and find the certain object you were looking for as everything the village has to offer is all in one place or if you wanted to stay in one night at your self catering property and cook your own version of the local dishes you would find all the ingredients in one place.

If you wanted to check out some of the other local town and villages then you can always try a self-catering villa in Arrieta, another quiet town, but is very big with it's water sports, and other sports which are held on the beach.

Some of the activities which are held in the village are the usual water sports including, sailing, water skiing, canoeing , wind surfing, kite surfing, snorkelling and diving. Then you have other adventurous sports including mountain biking and rock climbing. You also can have a go at horse riding or take a trek through some of the wild life parks.
