One of the most important attractions, and a great day out, is the 'Palio di Siena' which is the national horse race and chariot race, which takes place twice a year on the 2nd of July and the 16th of August. They pick a horse from every town in Tuscany, dress them in the old medieval costumes and race them on the famous horse track, then the horse who wins goes to the cathedral of Siena and is blessed by the priest.

The area is also very well known for it's wine tasting events, which take place many times throughout the year.

If you wanted to tour around the local and nearby areas, you have Manciano which is famous for golf, fishing, sailing, biking and of course its spectacular grand tours which are known to take you anywhere you wish so you get to see the area in great depth, we also have many short term rental farmhouses or even Serravalle Pistoiese where you have both a beach and mountains so you have some great activities such as skiing and snowboarding for the winter or mountain biking and rock climbing for the summer, then you have beach and sea activities such as kayaking and sailing and there is also an amazing wildlife park there as well with lots to see. We also have many amazing self catering villas.

However if you are a big sports fan then you can always just play some basketball of football, which are the 2 biggest sports in the region, which both have many tournaments held throughout the year. It is home to A.C. Siena football team, although many of the other teams are not that well known apart from in the area. So if you're looking for a city which has a beach close by, with mountains surrounding it and lots to be getting on with as a family or just a couple then Siena is definitely your place.
